Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Don't be insulting. I argue fairly. I may not always be coherent, and I may not always think clearly, but I do not play games. Life's too short. (Life's probably too short to argue politics on the internet, but we all have our weaknesses.)

Akin's position (which is moronic) and Ryan's position (which is intellectually defensible) come down to the same thing for the rape victim. In that sense, which is pretty darn important, they are the same.
You know full well the political spin that is taking place to smear Ryan. Others may not get it or may be too deep in their partisan brainlock to admit it, but I'm surprised you would buy into it, if you have. It's base politics, nothing more.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

It will also force many others to declare where they stand specifically on this.

To be honest, if you believe that abortion is morally or religiously wrong, how can there be an exception? It's either right or wrong and conservatives haven't shown a great ability to recognize nuance... in anything.

If given the chance, they will make it illegal in all instances. No question about it.

Precisely. Its very interesting to consider the view of Bob and Old Pio that rape victims should indeed have their rapist's child. Many perps aren't caught for this crime, so not only would the victims not even get justice, they'd also get a nice reminder of that not only for the next 9 months, but also for the rest of their lives courtesy of govt policy. So, in this example the rapist would get the spoils (procreate without the obvious problem of support, no punishment for the criminal act) while the victim gets a lifetime of burden.

Nice thing conservatism is. Just seems more fit for the tribal regions of Afghanistan than the USA.

Your imagination is active today.

Political spin? He's got a record in congress that is being scrutinized and where appropriate, questioned.

How is that spin? Did he NOT co-sponsor a personhood bill?

You, sir, are a liar and a fool.

Meanwhile, NRO is calling for Akin's exit, but not optimistic he'll take the hint.

People are having a fit over Akin's comment and saying blindly that Ryan is the same, which he obviously isn't. It's a simple, but often effective way to smear somebody. But, it's in your party's favor, so I don't expect you'd mind. If the tables were turned, and Biden's slavery comment were used to launch an assault on Obama, we'd hear no end to how it was dirty politics.

The only thing I saw in this forum declared that Ryan was the same on was abortion in the case of rape - which he is. Exactly the same.

YOU are the one here trying to spin it.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

How would we know since no one has the balls to stand up to the ever present base and say so? In the face of the base, the sun burns white hot and there are no gray areas - only black and white.

Until I hear a good amount step up and say different, I will assume that they (you) all (y'all ;)) feel the same way about abortion. No exceptions!

Ahhh, nuance. Don't you just love it? By "standing up to the base," are you referring to His Panderness' soaring rhetoric in condemning all those gang shootings in Chicago? BTW, the way to acertain the feelings of pro-life people on this or any other matter is to poll them. And polling consistently shows "no exception" to be a distinctly minority view.

But politically it makes absolute sense for libstains to try to smear all pro-life types with that canard. And Akin's stupid, ignorant point of view. Especially if it provides a distraction for all those folks unemployed, under employed or who have just given up. If I were running His Uselessness' campaign, I'd be doing the same thing.

You and the rest of the libstain's putting Akin's words in Ryan's mouth isn't spin? Do tell.

You're almost as good as Mittens in deflecting and changing the subject.

so OP to make this real simple. do you or do you not support Akins view.? A simple yes or no answer please, and no insults would be helpful for once.

Ummmm...Earth to Bob, they co-sponsored the law together.:rolleyes:

Old Pio, I realize any day you remember to change your underwear is a good one, but you're defending the indefensible here. On this issue, Ryan = Akin based on a law they both wanted to enact. Its not any more complicated than that.

No. Not that it matters to libstains, determined to smear anyone who disagrees with them about anything, I'm "pro-choice" and have said so many times. This doesn't mean I accept the arguments of the "pro-choice" extremists any more than I accept the arguments of the "pro life" extremists. I reserve the right to make up my mind on these matters as they come up.

Insulting you or anyone who "thinks" they've detected even a hint that I might support that nonsense is a waste of time and perfectly good insults. It would be analogous to insulting the banjo player in "Deliverance."

I repeat, a liar and a fool. And not a very smart one, either.

ah ha I see. thanks for making that clear. So why do you keep insulting the banjo player?

I'm so confused. You say that it would be a waste of time to insult but it appears that the last sentence is an insult.

So clever...

Oh no, Mitt isn't even in the same league with His Newtoneness in that regard. What economy? What unemployment? What health care disaster? What deficit spending? No, the real issue is Romney's taxes, his killing of that dude's wife and now, the extent to which he and Ryan can be smeared with the views of a nutty congressman.

But while we're smearing Romney, let's not forget that the views of His Transparancyness' friends and allies (like Reverand Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Ayers and Van Jones, just to name a few) are off limits. Right?
