Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

That's fine. But, the government service sector is failing as well and we don't have the money for that either. There's hundreds of roads and bridges in this country that need updating and fixing and they're not getting done. I guess we all want another 35W Bridge Collapse cause that's where we're headed. I just hope if I'm on that bridge I die quick.

agree. too much of the money they impound is going towards things that they shouldn't be doing. in turn, they have neglected the things they were created to do.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

I still don't understand how raising taxes on the rich solves any of our problems?? no one has yet offered a credible explanation of why this issue is anything other than a distraction.

Go ahead, raise taxes on the rich, then what?

Our national deficit gets reduced somewhat?

Look, the Tea Party derp-brigade is the one that is putting the national debt above all other issues. If that's really the number one priority, then taxes need to be raised.

If you're willing to concede that the national debt, while an issue, isn't the number one concern for the moment, then by all means, lets stop talking about taxes. But so long as the debt gets brought up by the GOP in general and the Tea Party specifically, higher taxes are going to be a part of any reasonable response.

Put another way, you cannot take seriously anyone who complains about the national debt while in the same breath saying taxes should be cut.

Sorry to hear you're not a fan of fiscal sanity.

Sure you can. You abolish Medicare and Social Security immediately. You use the current payroll tax to pay the bills. Once the bills have been paid you give all businesses and workers a tax cut by eliminating the payroll tax. And while we're at it, please repeal Obamacare and please don't be stupid and replace it. Just leave it alone.

Done.

You don't think I'm serious? I'm dead serious. I want the right to put their money where their mouth is and the best way to do that is to give them what they want.

Right, because defaulting on the national debt is the absolutely paradigm of fiscal sanity...I know most voters will have forgotten that whole incident by now, but that one was entirely on the Tea Party.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

US Senator Scott Brown today criticized the state’s welfare department for sending voting registration forms to 478,000 people on public assistance, saying the mass mailing was a ploy to boost the ranks of Democratic voters and benefit rival Elizabeth Warren’s campaign.

The state’s Department of Transitional Assistance last month sent registration forms, along with prepaid return envelopes, as part of a settlement over a lawsuit accusing the Patrick administration of violating the federal “motor voter” law.

It requires states to provide voter registration at motor vehicle and public assistance offices.

The suit was filed in May by a number of voting rights groups, including Demos, a left-leaning group based in New York whose board is chaired by Warren’s daughter, Amelia Warren Tyagi.

Voting rights groups have sued a number of states for failing to comply with the motor votor law, most recently Pennsylvania. Cases have been settled in New Mexico, Indiana, and Georgia.

The state denied that the mailings were politically motivated, but Brown’s campaign said they were “clearly designed” to benefit Warren’s campaign. The Harvard Law School professor is challenging Brown as he seeks reelection to the seat he won for the Republicans in a January 2010 special election.

“I want every legal vote to count, but it’s outrageous to use taxpayer dollars to register welfare recipients as part of a special effort to boost one political party over another,” the senator said in a statement. “This effort to sign up welfare recipients is being aided by Elizabeth Warren’s daughter and it’s clearly designed to benefit her mother’s political campaign.”

The state spent $276,000 on the mailings, which the Boston Herald reported in today’s edition.

The major cost drivers at the national level are Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and Defense.

We can't cut defense with the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrating the White House.

So, abolish entitlements.

What a joke this is, the fact this has been to court makes me laugh. If you can't figure out you need to register to vote, too freakin bad, go have another drink

Better yet, just let ME cast that vote for you. I think I've posted before the incident years ago in Baton Rouge, where an old lady voting ahead of me, apparantly had some question, pulled the lever to open the curtains then stepped out. The guy answered her question and motioned for her to go back into the booth. I pointed out that by pulling the lever to open the curtains she had already voted and shouldn't be given a second bite of the apple. Was she cheating? Was he cheating? Probably not. But how many seemingly "honest" mistakes does it take to influence the outcome of one of our famous "dead heat" elections?

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

I'd probably go with the guy actually on the ballot in Johnson. Maybe they get lucky and cross some vote threshold that gets them better access.
When the GOP co-opted the Tea Party the Libertarians (both large and small L) lost their chance.

The TPers started out in a way not entirely different from the Paultards. Then the racists moved in, and then Fox News and Glenn Beck moved in, and any semblance of fiscal intelligence went bye-bye.

The Libertarians are like soccer. Poised to catapult to American national dominance. As they have been since 1972.

MD is a safe state so I'll probably vote for Johnson. I've cast almost as many Presidential ballots for Libertarians (3) than Democrats (5) in my life.

Ah yes, "racism." You guys already have your perfect excuse if His Panderness loses, don't you? Many "enlightened" whites, who voted for His Transparancyness in their millions, will become "racists" in the twinkling of an eye, if they change their minds and vote to send him back to Blagoland.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

I may be mixing it up; it would make sense that they came after, or perhaps along with.

I was thinking the same thing. I was a big fan of the TP in the earliest stage of their existence. Then they turned into something so distasteful, I always hesitate saying I once supported them because of all the baggage that comes with it.

I feel the same thing about Pink Floyd and Genesis.

I've never had much use for true believers. And am a firm believer in the Buckley Rule: nominate the most conservative candidate who can win. Scott Brown over Princess Summerfall Winterspring? Easy call. Let her submit more recipes involving tasty Oklahoma crabs. As a general rule, it's not a good idea to put somebody up for the Senate who admits to "dabbling in witchcraft" in an otherwise winnable race. That said, the only violence I'm aware of at a TP event was when SEIU goons beat the snot out of a black guy selling American flags. Axelrod wants us all cowering under out beds at the prospect of the Tea Party. And Keplertards want us to believe they're a threat to democracy. IMO, much less of a threat than the New Black Panther Party, which actually intimidates real voters.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

Well, now we "know" why we'll never see Obama's college transcripts.....when his step-father moved the family to indonesia, did he become an Indonesian citizen? so that, when he applied to college, he did so as an exchange student with Indonesian citizenship?

That doesn't disqualify him since he also was born in Hawaii as a native-born child of a US citizen.....still, perhaps that helps explain his constant anger.....did he ever "earn" anything or was it all affirmative action placements? what does he himself believe in his private heart of darkness?

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

Don't go there, FF. There are plenty of substantive reasons to dislike Obama - no derp required.

Rick Perry had been a candidate for the GOP nomination for about 15 minutes and his A & M grades were made public. For cripes sake we now know what Romney's grades were as a freaking high school freshman. But His Hidingsomethingness' college grades are a closely guarded secret. Let's make a deal: Romney releases ten years worth of tax returns and His Transcriptlessness releases his academic records. Sounds fair to me. Let's do it.

One thing you can absolutely, positively take to the bank: this will never be an issue for the MSM, never.
