Shannon and Matt blow chunks. They need to be fired. And just for funsies, Shannon should be banned from treadmills for life.

Happy near year! :)

ECAC pick pool - Week11 results

ECAC pick pool - Week11 results

Everone did well in their picks this weekend except on the Dartmouth games. Most goofed on the Dartmouth Picks. The difference between Rinktaxi and most of the pack was his/her pick of SLU over Dartmouth.

Rinktaxi................10/11
OnMaa...................9/11
MattJ.....................9/11
Hockey Teacher......8/10
Trillium..................8/10
Atlantic Puck.........8/10

The answers to the questions week are:

Will the game on Wednesday take place ? .........Nope........2 Feet of snow in New Haven
Can the North teams get back on track ?........Yup............. They both picked up a win in Hanover
Can Darty and Harvard get back to their winning ways ?........Harvard yes, Dartmouth not so much.
Will RPI stay Hot ?...........Sort Off........ while they lost to the Big Red, they won over Colgate.
Will the Big Red run the table in the ECAC ?.....Maybe....Union gave them a scare this weekend.

ECAC pick pool - Week 12 lineup.

ECAC pick pool - Week 12 lineup.

Large slate of games coming up this weekend, including three tomorrow. Get yer picks in early. Big game for the Big Red in Erie tomorrow. Go Big Red......

Questions of the week.....
Will Mazotta be able to Play in the big game......?
Will the Crimson stay Hot and climb and get bck into top 10 contention....?
Which Dartmouth team will show up this weekend.....?
Will Babstock stay Hot and win the ECAC scoring title as a rookie.....?
Can the Bobcats go 3-0 and make a push for the top 10....?
Can the Dutch Women spring a surprise....?
Can the Bears rebound from the Erie trip....?

The fight for the playoff spots is getting hot, with 6 teams in the mix in a tight race for four spots.

Good luck to the prognosticators.

Re: ECAC pick pool - Week11 results

Questions of the week.....
Will Mazotta be able to Play in the big game......? NO ...think she's out for a while given that the word is that her foot has been in a walking cast. Big reason why I would expect Mercyhurst to prevail.
Will the Crimson stay Hot and climb and get bck into top 10 contention....? YES ...significant upgrade in recent team play has been noted, perhaps tied to some recent roster shakeups and tactics changes
Which Dartmouth team will show up this weekend.....? A BETTER ONE THAN LAST WEEKEND...though up and down all year, they don't ever seem to stay down for long.
Will Babstock stay Hot and win the ECAC scoring title as a rookie.....? YES...she's definitely the most talented scorer in this league....unless of course she gets injured, god forbid
Can the Bobcats go 3-0 and make a push for the top 10....? YES and MAYBE....these games shouldn't be too difficult for the Bobcats if they are on their form, but similarly, wins against weaker competition don't necessarily prove them worthy of maintaining top 10 ranking ahead of some others
Can the Dutch Women spring a surprise....? NOT THIS WEEKEND...but they ARE getting close. They are no longer the pushover they once were.
Can the Bears rebound from the Erie trip....? COULD GO EITHER WAY, BUT PROBABLY NOT....playing top competition could help them get to the next level of play, but is more likely given their current relative position just going to negatively affect their mindset. Then again, both SLU and Clarkson are showing themselves to be very vulnerable this season, so who knows. With Brown's superior goaltending, combined with their upcoming opponents' recent difficulty in mustering high shot volumes, it's not that big a longshot.
The fight for the playoff spots is getting hot, with 6 teams in the mix in a tight race for four spots. Yup, this weekend is a very big one in terms of starting to sort out the playoff picture. I'd bet on Colgate and Clarkson to end up on the outside when all is said and done...and I'm sure no one really wants to end up in that 8th position either. The differences between 2nd and 10th really aren't all that big, so once the playoffs start, anything could happen in most matchups.

The numbers don't necessarily support that. If the ECAC is like most leagues, the scoring title is based on conference play. Babstock has a two-point lead over Jenner and Johnston, but they both have two games in hand and score at a higher rate. If each maintains something close to their current pace, one of the Cornell players is more likely to win.

You are right that the Cornell players certainly do have a couple of big advantages--they play on a much stronger team, and have the important benefit of being able to play with each other rather than other more "merely mortal" linemates. Didn't realize they were all that close now pointswise as I haven't looked at stats recently. However, having watched all these players much over the past several years, I do stand by my opinion that Babstock is actually the naturally most talented scorer.
