ECAC Hockey Finales Will Not Be Televised

I never saw too many at the 'tute. Of course, you guys were probably behind the post where we didn't have to look at you. :D

Heh, that is true, although its hard to say how it compared to other teams since I obviously only went to SLU road games at other rinks. I know that usually SLU's USCHO posters would be in the capital district since for many it is a pretty central location (got6, TimU, muskieman, myself, spaceman, then another 7 or 8 usually from Tupper Lake who travel to a bunch of games). SLU also has strong alumni presence for the Yale/Harvard games. It seemed we would get a decent crowd at Messa, but it's hard to say since the crowds tended to be smaller than at HFH.

The years SLU made it to Albany for ECACs though, it seemed they brought a pretty respectable crowd compared to the other teams there. Obviously you couldn't expect SLU bringing a bunch to AC given the distance and short amount of time once fans knew they would be there. Given the turnouts at Princeton, as well, I have a hard time thinking alums in the NYC area would travel further to AC, but who knows.

SLU will likely never be on par with Cornell, RPI, CCT... but they aren't down in the dungeon of fanbases with Harvard and Dartmouth either. I'd say they're probably top half of the league for most road games, likely 4th or 5th best, arguably.

Oh sure... rub salt in our wounds.

Just sayin' ... that if a cost-containment league with a tight budget and not a long tradition can pull it off, then Mr. Hagwell, with the Ivies, a long and storied tradition, and what must be a larger budget, ought to be able to as well.

And yet, RIT wants to join this league... you're better off remaining the big fish in a small pond. ;)

You had a pretty decent crowd for the LP games (granted if everyone's coming from lumberjack land, of course you would). Plus, given the last time I went up to Appleton that your crowd was mostly alumni and the Cantonese (not too many current students from what I could tell), it wouldn't surprise me that those who did care about hockey would travel to various games. Probably one big reason that RPI, Clarkson, and Cornell have such a large following is the effort that is placed into alumni networking. All it would take is a tight-knit alumni group in an area and then some networking. Pick up newer alumni as you go, and work with the next "generation" in the effort it would take to head one of those events.

Re: ECAC Hockey Finales Will Not Be Televised

I definitely remember some very, very respectable (bordering on impressive) SLU crowds at Albany. They more than hold their own, especially considering the size of the school.

Alumni networks help, but we just like hockey more.

I'm curious to see just how good these America One feeds are. Hopefully RPI-TV got their way.

Re: ECAC Hockey Finales Will Not Be Televised

4 minutes to game time and the America One Feed is not available for purchase.

Re: ECAC Hockey Finales Will Not Be Televised

Given how people have been cutting it back in terms of cost, along with the advent of internet streaming, I'm surprised people still even watch TV!
I see the point you're trying to make but I just don't agree in this case. This league championship weekend should be available to the masses for the good of the league. Besides, $9.00 for today's games and $9.95 for tomorrow is kind of steep if you ask me. Sure, it's about what I pay during the season but again, this is the league's showcase event. Broadcast it!
