Regarding the confusion with the team one goalie selection and who is the best. They are all about the same, great teams out front. I for one like Union' Lundberg!! 4 years of never giving up and this year broke or set several school records, joined the NCAA 3000 club and finished the season with 1110 saves with 918% and broke or set the NCAA record for saves in a shutout 59 against Northeastern. All the while putting up better numbers each year without much out front. I would like to have seen how any of the front runners would have fared had the role been reversed. :)

I don't know about the first team, but I watched Union play Harvard at Harvard this year and their goalie was outstanding! I watched the team fall apart in the 2nd and let her down and come back in the third and at least have her back and all I can say is that kid is a real gamer!! Regardless of what was happening with her team she made some great saves and many were 2nd and 3rd attempts. Nothing but good to say here!

Is the first and second team thing the same as all americans? If that's the case them I don't think that any player with less than three seasons behind them should be included. I think it should be a player that starts and finishes solid, not a flash in the pan!

It is not the same.

Re: ECAC D1 Women's Hockey 2014-15 Season

I always find this part of the season interesting an exciting! I wish I could have seen that 59 save shutout by the Union goalie, I read about it and that she shopped 14 shots from Coyne. Having said that I did get to see her performance at Quinnipiac just 3 days earlier. I think it was the same goalie but anyway she saw pucks coming at her from everywhere. When the ice settled the shot difference was 63-8 We got the shutout but the real show was that Union goalie, never got visibly frustrated, kept her head in the game and seemed to never tire. After the game I went to congratulate her on the performance and she said she couldn't wait to play them again. I asked her how her season was going and she said GREAT not winning much but we'll make them earn the win.

Re: ECAC D1 Women's Hockey 2014-15 Season

Apparently with no individual awards going to Quinnipiac, their success must be due to their depth and emphasis on playing good defense. To a lesser extent St. Lawrence has also had a very good year, but their success has also been achieved with no superstar individuals.

The awards listed below are the Ivy League's awards (I just posted them here since all the Ivy's are members of the ECAC too). I would imagine you'll see some representation from both of those schools when the ECAC awards are announced.

Got it, thanks.

Got it, thanks.

I understand the frustration, it seems to me that every year the awards go to individuals of the top teams with very little consideration to the individual effort of players not on those teams. No doubt most of the players listed would help any team they played on but without additional talent to make/receive that great pass or great D out front to minimize forwards getting that goalie moving to open things up. They would just be another frustrated "maybe" good player but I'm positive that they would not rise to 1st or 2nd team status. Additionally it can probably be chalked up to laziness among the individuals who judge. Most of the individuals chosen are the easy choices, names always out front.

Re: ECAC D1 Women's Hockey 2014-15 Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University announced today that Amy Bourbeau has stepped down as women's ice hockey coach. A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

"I want to thank Coach Bourbeau for her contributions to the Brown women's hockey program and its student-athletes," said Brown Director of Athletics Jack Hayes. "I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."

Bourbeau coached the Bears for four seasons from 2011-15, compiling a 23-79-14 overall record. She helped lead Brown to its first appearance in the ECAC playoffs in five years during the 2011-12 season. Her teams won the Mayor's Cup against crosstown rival Providence College three out of four years during her tenure.
