Well I do try to scrupulously alternate between posts and believe me that's not easy.

This is beautifully said. I'd have been proud to have written it. I don't detect a significant difference in vocabulary (other than his eloquence which is a gift from the gods), so perhaps the distortion is in the receiver, not the transmitter...

What she is literally telling the court is that the ppl who are supposed to to enforce the court orders won’t. This is the definition of lawlessness. If she quits, the thin veil that still separates us from pure authoritarianism is ripped and gone.

This Homan presser is completely incoherent. He started by announcing a drawdown of 700 agents (good!) but then pivoted to whining about "rhetoric" (bad) and suggested there will be more bloodshed if it doesn't stop (grim). Not clear to me that anything is actually changing on the ground here in MN.

Except none of that is true. The "party" supports free choice, they support not murdering illegals and support giving them due process as covered under The Constitution, and name 3 things Republicans have done for the Homeless and Veterans? Because last time I checked...

DOGE cut funding and staffing for the VA as well as slashing Medicaid which many Veterans rely upon.

Republicans gutted the PACT Act which served veterans exposed to toxic substances, and canceled hundreds of contracts for programs supporting veterans’ mental health and addressing veteran homelessness. Additionally cutting SNAP benefits also hit many of our veterans hard.

It is also mandated per the 1944 Veterans Preference Act federal agencies should hire veterans over other candidates and retain veterans over other employees during layoffs which before DOGE got stared meant 30% of the federal workforce were veterans. So when DOGE started gutting the federal labor pool veterans were disproportionately impacted.

They cut staff for the veterans suicide hotline.

The VA's investment in research, about $916 million a year, has contributed to a comprehensive understanding of veterans' well-being, meaning the government can target aid toward those in need. VA research has also helped spark major medical breakthroughs on the link between smoking and cancer, prompting the surgeon general to put warnings on cigarettes, and the most widely used method to measure and treat prostate cancer. VA research staffing was cut.

As far as the homeless are concerned, Republicans repeatedly work to cut funding for housing assistance, the aforementioned SNAP, health care, education, there’s a push to abandon the evidence-based "Housing First" model and replace it with more temporary based housing as well as involuntary commitment.

Now as far as “illegals” are concerned.

They work, they pay taxes, they commit crimes at a lesser rate ACROSS THE BOARD compared with native born Americans, and many are in the process of trying to gain legal status which is very difficult to do in a post 9/11 world. In 2023 it was estimated 6 million illegals in the U.S. had some form of temporary protection or a pending application for legal status which was nearly 50% of the estimated illegal population at the time.

I’m not trying to demonize “the right” – perhaps you could do the same with “the left”.
