Dump Term 2, 1.01: Sleep Now in the Fire

He's gonna what now?

Whatever the F he wants - IMMUNITY, BABY!

He’s dictator for life now, absent a military coup. He can do whatever he wants to stay in office, and if the military is loyal to him (or completely disfunctional from the morons he installs), who’s going to stop him? SCOTUS? Congress? CEOs?

Listening to CNBC this morning and it appears the Mexico Tariff will completely bone GM and the affordability of cars in the United States. Sounds like a great economic plan.

Why, the American people of course! We’re going to rise up in the streets and stuff. Yeah, that’s it! The same people who voted him into office will vote him out! I’m so confident.

The real information revolution is we are now informed about the true state of intelligence in the population. All of a sudden, voter ID, poll taxes, and citizenship requirements make a lot more sense.

I sort of disagree with this. I think that anyone who really thought about it understood. I remember talking with a friend of mine decades ago where we were naming the people that we knew in our school who were true psychopaths. Then we started contemplating that if there were two of them in a class of our size, and how many similar classes there were nationwide, we both agreed we didn't want to think about how many truly crazy people were out there.

The true revolution brought on by the internet and social media is that they have been enabled to find one another. Everyone knew the two crazies my friend and I were talking about, and everyone gave them a wide berth (while keeping one eye on them). But from their standpoint, they were basically alone. They had each other, but still.

Now, they can find entire reddit threads or gamer chatrooms filled with kindred spirits.

Yuuuuuupppppppp.

Will be interesinted in how quick they shift gears to more Asia-built imports. Chevy Trax small SUV (refresh) has been their best selling vehicle since introduction last year, and it's a Korean built vehicle, and the cheapest vehicle in their portfolio and is similar in size with the Subaru Outback.

The New Trax is a niiiiiice vehicle, we love ours. Top trim package fully loaded was cheaper than even a mid-tier Malibu or Trailblazer.

Harris shouldnt have to tell them anything...these people have access to more knowledge than was in the Library at Alexandria multiplied by what is currently in the Library of Congress with up to the second updates in the palm of their hand. A 2 second Google Search would tell you and simple math would back it up. The problem is, like always in a Democracy, the people got fat and lazy and didn't care to actually pay attention. I mean when you live in a timeline where Muslims voted for the guy who wants Gaza leveled and who, as one of his first official acts BANNED YOUR PEOPLE, because he was the "Peace" guy...I mean yeah. When CEOs are literally admitting they price gouged and you still pretend inflation is the issue...you deserve what you get.

You know what the dumbest thing is (of all the dumb things this election showed us) is that the average American not only doesn't know how the Government works they don't even know how things are made anymore. Let's say for example because of this stupid trade war the phuck is about to start with Mexico and Canada car companies decide not to export the jobs (they will) and keep the cars made here. (they most certainly won't) Most of the components for those cars are not built or sourced here meaning...you guessed it...WE IMPORT THEM because we don't have the resources! And where do we think a lot of that is going to come from? Oil comes from Canada, car parts from Mexico and the electronics from China! So now you are paying high wages to American Workers and high tariffs to the countries where you are sourcing the parts making the average cost to manufacture skyrocket! But I am sure the CEOs will just eat that extra cost right?

Meanwhile now that Tesla no longer needs subsidies (for now anyways...their books are so cooked even Trump probably admires them) Musk wants Trump to end the EV credit. You know...the guy who was going to save the world via EVs. Newsome said if the Government does that California will pass their own for every vehicle company except Tesla.

My only solace is to say "I hope you get exactly what you voted for". They don't like when you say that though they say it is mean. They are so close...

It occurred to me that tariffs are just a sales tax or flat tax. This is how they're going to eliminate the income tax. They'll jack up costs but tell you they're lowering taxes to compensate.

So in the end, the rich pay a smaller portion of their income and it shifts the burden to the lowest half of the country.

Even if it's revenue-neutral this is disastrous for an economy. An economy isn't stagnant. It requires movement. The less movement, the worse the economy. The rich move the least amount of money relative to wealth. Fewer dollars are plugged into the economy and I don't think we're going to like the results.

So if he plans to reinstate all student debt that Biden wiped out…will that occur before or after the closure of Dept of education?

Can't wait until that money gets ripped from the economy at the same time prices go up 25%. Going to be a huge fucking bag of sh_t through the snowblower.

Ummm, that is going to take everyone below a certain income level and drive them into poverty. You think Eggs are expensive now?

While you are right they will definitely not eliminate the income tax. They will for rich people, but you and I will still have to pay and will likely pay more. They will want to, but they're is no way to run the Pentagon without taxes and the government won't make enough on everything to fund it. Even if they instituted a massive sales tax to compensate the government would default, the military would become as pathetic as Russias and likely the Blue States are the only ones to survive. Without subsidies every Trumper state would die on the vine. (Not that he cares) No they keep taxing us plebes until the market craters and oligarchs buy it all. The playbook was written by Putin and Orban and Trump is not even pretending to do anything different. The one thing different is Putin is fine as long as Moscow is safe...The US is a different animal with a lot more guns.

As for student debt...why even pay it he isn't going to have anyone in place to collect it. Hell the next 4 years write everything off on your taxes the IRS is about to be gutted. Last time I got away with murder this time I won't hold back at all. By the time they get around to collections for student debt the economy will be as worthless as the border wall.

I agree with this. It's one thing when you have the one moron who believes the Earth is flat but when you can find videos on Tick Tok or chat groups on forums with every other person who agrees the stupidity grows to the point that a quarter of all Americans believe it now...

Thanks to the Red States and GOPers who hate education this country is beyond dumb. Some studies show that 70% of the country reads at around a 6th grade level. Best way to kill Democracy is make people too stupid to know how to keep it alive. (I literally have had to teach this stuff since the Election...it has not been pleasant)

They’ll probably do something similar to what the Dumpies err Chamber of Commerce is proposing in Anchorage, a sales tax to “provide property tax relief to business and property owners”. They’ll pass a sales tax and then lower the corporate tax rate and the upper income tax brackets.

On one hand, it's definitely tempting to say that I've made my last honest tax filing. They're not going to have the resources to audit us peons. However, I also wouldn't put it past them to have whatever is left of the IRS target blue state/metro area filers for added scrutiny, something they've accused Dems of doing to conservatives and conservative groups for years (without evidence).

I’ve noticed this with newer, younger coworkers, and by younger I mean in the 18-25 range, and I just took it as more of I’m getting older thing but no, they are basically robots. They have knowledge and know how to access knowledge in a YouTube video or a TikTok or a Google search but there’s very little understanding of why or how.

TBF, boomers and early Gen Xers aren’t any better. The generations that told us “don’t trust anything you read on the internet” are suddenly very trusting of everything they read on the internet.

But......but........GM will start making those cars here. And build new plants to build engines, and all the parts those engines will need. And the computer operating system that runs those cars. And all the wires, belts and hoses those cars will need. And the turn signal stalks. And the brake pedals. And the carpeting for the floors. And the door locks. And......and.......and..........

Wait, and you think the oligarchs don't know this?

No more minimum wage, you work for whatever we deign to pay you. For however long we decide you do.

I see it when I read those news stories on my MSN feed or whatever. People who make their living "writing" and they misuse 'their' and 'they're' all the time, as well as other even more abuses of the language.

I can't think of examples offhand but using a word that sounds similar to the word they mean to use, but has an entirely different meaning. No idea of how to properly use the English language

I understand that a vast number of our population is the same, but as I said, these people are supposed to be"writers" or "journalists" If that's their career, I expect them to know how to use the written word properly.

It’s why I wonder if I just pull all my money out of my investments briefly and just sit. Never want to time market but I do think he’s gonna crash it all

I think many, if not most of the clickbait articles are just spit out by Gen AI now.
