Actually, most of the rural areas of Alaska are staunchly Democratic. Alaska Natives are not big fans of Dump.

MY SO's mother watches way too much cable news...she has fallen into the trap of "Harris lost because of Trans issues and blah blah blah". Meanwhile my SO keeps yelling at her about outside of one interview (where she said she will follow "the law" on the issue) she never mentioned it outside of very vague comments. It was the GOP who brought it up at every turn and the media ate it up like they were speaking on her behalf. Now clownshows like the Republicans on MSNBC and CNN are saying she lost because of "woke" when she literally did nothing woke at all. (she phucking campaigned with Liz Cheney)

At least the ratings for MSNBC and CNN are tanking hard. No joke more people watch Gopher Hockey Games than watch that trash anymore. Their viewers are in the tens of thousands especially in the younger demos. That is why Comcast is getting rid of MSNBC and CNBC but keeping friggin Bravo.

Yeah, the Repub on The View is doing the same thing. She's also accusing everyone else of being Apocalyptic and she wants to give Dump a chance. Trust me I am Apocalyptic and for good reason and none of the people she is talking about is even close.

What I am amazed about and did not understand is how many people in this country are so fucking stupid that they would vote for Democrats or Democrat policies while at the same time voting for him. It's the stupidest most insane fucking thing I have ever heard/seen or experienced. And I will never rectify it in my mind.

It's all about inflation. Ideology and culture means 35-40% of the voting population is always going to vote R and 40-45% will always vote D. It's that 20-25% who will flip back and forth, and ultimately the most persuasive argument seems to be whether they can make a buck out of it.

Nevermind inflation was global and the US fared better than almost any nation. Nevermind wages have risen (something most people probably only feel if they have changed jobs, and then in their minds it's account to their own doing).

Harris always had the harder job. Explaining that inflation is bad but we made the best of it sounds like an excuse. Telling people inflation has returned to normal levels and the economy is doing well sounds insulting to people who haven't been able to increase their own wages, or who want to believe their own increase in income is all a result of their own doing.

Meanwhile the Trump team could just bleat on saying "look at your grocery bill compared to 4 years ago."

What is frustrating to me, is that taking all that into account, how many people who are doing just fine financially are willing to sell their values out for the mistaken belief that somehow Trump would help them do just a bit better.

Yes, there are people in this country who are hurting and need some help or relief, but so many of that 20-25% do not.

Harris shouldnt have to tell them anything...these people have access to more knowledge than was in the Library at Alexandria multiplied by what is currently in the Library of Congress with up to the second updates in the palm of their hand. A 2 second Google Search would tell you and simple math would back it up. The problem is, like always in a Democracy, the people got fat and lazy and didn't care to actually pay attention. I mean when you live in a timeline where Muslims voted for the guy who wants Gaza leveled and who, as one of his first official acts BANNED YOUR PEOPLE, because he was the "Peace" guy...I mean yeah. When CEOs are literally admitting they price gouged and you still pretend inflation is the issue...you deserve what you get.

You know what the dumbest thing is (of all the dumb things this election showed us) is that the average American not only doesn't know how the Government works they don't even know how things are made anymore. Let's say for example because of this stupid trade war the phuck is about to start with Mexico and Canada car companies decide not to export the jobs (they will) and keep the cars made here. (they most certainly won't) Most of the components for those cars are not built or sourced here meaning...you guessed it...WE IMPORT THEM because we don't have the resources! And where do we think a lot of that is going to come from? Oil comes from Canada, car parts from Mexico and the electronics from China! So now you are paying high wages to American Workers and high tariffs to the countries where you are sourcing the parts making the average cost to manufacture skyrocket! But I am sure the CEOs will just eat that extra cost right?

Meanwhile now that Tesla no longer needs subsidies (for now anyways...their books are so cooked even Trump probably admires them) Musk wants Trump to end the EV credit. You know...the guy who was going to save the world via EVs. Newsome said if the Government does that California will pass their own for every vehicle company except Tesla.

My only solace is to say "I hope you get exactly what you voted for". They don't like when you say that though they say it is mean. They are so close...

Because they don't actually have any values beyond the almighty dollar and their personal bottom line, and don't actually care about fighting for anyone or anything else. That would be too inconvenient and require them to do some actual activism.

My neighbor might lose some of his/her rights? Oh well, as long as car juice is cheap enough to keep my giant honkin SUV filled up, sucks to be you.

Wait until Canada stops sending us oil and we have to go back to getting it from the Saudis (all part of the plan!) and see how much they enjoy it then ;)

I drive a reasonable sedan and I don't commute to work. Not much of a concern for me.

Glad I grabbed a new mini PC last month; might grab a few more to complete a home lab before Jan 20.

Yeah I am pretty much buying everything I am going to need before the end of the year because come Martin Luther King Day the world is going to get super expensive.

Sounds like I'll commute on the 2-wheeled vehicle as soon as it's warm enough, getting 60+ mpg.

I'd say this has always been true of the average person. We're just finding it out now since we can know what goes on inside their head from social media.

The real information revolution is we are now informed about the true state of intelligence in the population. All of a sudden, voter ID, poll taxes, and citizenship requirements make a lot more sense.

And before the reflexive Republicans get defensive about that, just remember: the next one of these Trump yahoos could just as easily come from the Left. Imagine how much fun that would be.
