Drunk Cheesehead of the Day - Resurrected!

Fifty drunkest counties in the US:

The Wisconsin counties not colored are full of meth labs.

We seek God.

That's not a fair map. That county in North Dakota is Mercer County, and they're probably still sobering up from the 1969 Zip to Zap riot.

My dad was 17 years old and living 15 minutes away from Zap in 1969. I don't know what I heard about more growing up: Zip to Zap or Frenchy's.

I never really thought it was possible to miss a bar, but I miss Frenchy's.

I was too young to make it to Zap, but I always hoped that the threatened return 10 years later would happen so I could go.

Frenchys was great. Never had a mug, but went here once I had the necessary ID. Highway host for breakfast after closing time with the rest of the stoned/drunk/strunk students.

Your Michigan.

Tell me about Hazel Park.

My wife used to live there. It's a gentrifying suburb that borders some very sketchy parts of north side Detroit to its south and the trashiest parts of White Trash Warren to its east. It is bisected by a major freeway and the portion on the Warren-adjacent side still has some *ahem* characters who haven't yet been pushed out by the young hipsters and bohemians who can't afford Ferndale anymore. It has come a long way from when I was a kid and it was a city you didn't dare to stop or get out of the car in. I will say this to its credit - AFAIK it's the only school district in Michigan that offers a promise to pay for two years of community college for all of its high school graduates, which is one of the reasons why its property taxes are so high despite the characters.
