Does Brown care about women's hockey?

Re: Does Brown care about women's hockey?

Always looked forward to the day that the book mobile came around. Rather unique vehicles. They seemed "purpose-built".

While I enjoyed Romper Room, I was never much for Soupy Sales.

I guess I couldn't get enough pie in the face back then. Now I can't get enough whoopie pie.

Of course, when I got too wound up from watching Soupy, Mom would put on Jack La Lanne and tell me to exercise it out. I saw a piece on him recently. For someone well into his 90's, he doesn't look a day over 65. And still quite fit. Obviously, Jack doesn't know about whoopie pies.

Ahhhh the flashbacks.....

Remember how Charlie Brown had this amazing crush on the little red-haired girl, but you never got to actually see her?

Yeah, that's right, somehow I remember having a crush on her too!

Ok, that is just toooooo much information.

He should have tried T-boning her in his cardboard car!

Can't remember the name of the show but does anyone remember Andy Devine saying, "twang your magic twanger, Froggy"?

Andy's gang.

How about all the christmas specials. I remember towards christmas break every year, all the kids would talk about what show was coming on that night. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Charlie Brown's Christmas, and the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It was such a treat to get to maybe stay up just a little later to watch those shows or get to eat in front of the TV. I also remember that every Sept or Oct, they would air The Wizard of Oz and every spring, The Sound of Music.

Another show I used to watch after school was Commander Tom which was hosted by local Buffalo weathercaster Tom Joles . Don't remember all the characters, but there was a pig named Cecily.

Wadduyu mean "Would". They still show all these favorites every year on our National Broadcasting Networks (CBC, CTV) up here in the great White north.

Remember up here in the Winter all we do is Eat, Sleep, Play and Watch Hockey :) , and Watch some TV.

BTW..Winter is in full gear. It's bitter cold in the Prairies and we are expecting our first full blast of snow over the next 36 hours in many parts of Ontario and Quebec.

Not sure they still do down in the states, as I don't watch much on the three big networks. As a kid all we had was the big three and local channels; 5(KTLA), 9(KCAL), 11(KTTV), and 13(KCOP).

I grew up with access to State Television only. Airtime would be 5:30pm-11pm daily. Good news is No Commercials on state TV. We had 25 and 50 minute programs with a 5 minute news broadcast every half hour. And just to date myself, if was all black and white. About 25% of our entertainment programs were American or English shows subtitled into our language. Bonanza and Zorro were pretty big back home when I was a kid. It was sure a different world than the one in NA.

Anyone from boston ever go on Major Mudd, Bozo, or Rex Trailer?

In an odd confluence of themes within this thread, I confess: yes, I was on the Bozo Show many, many years ago.

But it must have been in a local studio in Springfield, not Boston ... it was a neighborhood kid's birthday party, and they wouldn't have taken us to Boston for that (3 hour trip back then).

Only one thing I remember about the occasion: It had to be a low budget production, because the on air staff was setting up equipment before they went "on the air." Some bozo side-kick (I'm thinking it was a cowboy character?) handed me a coil of wires and asked me to hold on to it for him.

He came back quite some time later, having obviously forgotten what he did with the wire, and when he saw them in my hands, yelled at me for not letting him know I had them ...

In the context of this thread, I'm just not sure of the larger meaning behind this story....

Somehow that just seems wrong to ask of a frog.

How many of you can still remember and sing all the lyrics to Gilligan's Island, Beverly Hillbillies and/ or F-Troop??

I remember Gilligan's Island and the Beverly Hillbillies, but not F-Troop.

What about the Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch?

Re: Does Brown care about women's hockey?

("F Troop" by Irving Taylor and William Lava) - F Troop Lyrics

...
Where Indian fights are colorful sights
and nobody takes a lickin'
Where pale face and redskin
Both turn chicken.

When killing and fighting get them down,
They know their morale can't droop.
As long as they all relax in town
Before they resume with a bang and a boom
F Troop.
