I bought a pair last month; they are very comfortable and very light on my feet.
And the NMU girl leaves a hanging curve for every hitter she's ever faced. And, they do a remarkable job selling and describing the course. Flat and fast, it sounds likehttp://www.marquettemarathon.com/about.html
That is awesome! Good luck to you!Asics. And I'm never going back.
In other news... I have committed to a half marathon! It's the one that NMU_27 mentioned previously--http://www.marquettemarathon.com/index.html

As for me, I've learned that instead of drinking a full pot of coffee in the morning, it's better if I limit myself to two cups and have an extra serving of fruit with breakfast.
Second half this Sunday! Tapering is going quite well- we had some great runs over our vacation this past weekend in California. And my leg seems to be recovering, but am still having issues with the day after a fast run or the day after travelling and sitting still. Or driving a LONG time. Must be something cramping in my leg.
I think it will be ok for Sunday, though. Just a few more runs- like a 5 miler tonight. Maybe even hit my sub 2:00 goal!
'diva- good luck!!! Again- there are tons of training plans on line- I've got one through my trianing group, but Hal Hingdon's site has a bunch of them, too (he's got a lot of good books, too). You'll love it! Just make sure to enjoy the run at some point....![]()

Finally good sore from the gym yesterday. I hurt my shoulder doing something wrong a few weeks ago and had been going easy on it. Today's pain is that good, "oh, hello muscle, I must have forgotten about you" pain. I like it.
Good luck with your second half!
And thanks for the tips. I'm working off a model partially based on a Higdon model, partially advised by my little sister (the trainer-in-training), and partially of my own making. It's 4 days a week of running (1 long run, 1 medium length run, and 2 "shorter" runs), one day of biking, and two of rest.
What advice does anyone have to give in terms of eating during training. Should I be adjusting my diet at all, and if so, how?
My mom drinks coffee, but not as much as I do, my dad sticks to espresso. I poured the remaining coffee into a jar and put it in the refrigerator; tomorrow, I'm making iced coffee! Thanks.
Are your parents coffee drinkers as well? Because, I've found that I drink less coffee if I don't make a full pot, but just the amount I know I should drink. If they aren't drinking coffee as well, that would be my suggestion for you--just make the 2 or so cups and be done with it.
So how did you fare in the Boulder 10K?time for new shoes new shoes. I'll go get my gait analyzed and see what's shaking down. Probably will end up with Mizunos again, but wouldn't mind Pearl Izumis either.

Yeah crippled sore is no fun, but a mild, "hey I am a muscle, and you havent used me in a while" sore is good. Finally good sore from the gym yesterday. I have dumped pretty much refined anything...sugar, grains. But I also have alot of weight to lose. So I pretty much eat protien, fruits and vegs (for nutrients and carbs) and good healthy fat (which includes butter). What advice does anyone have to give in terms of eating during training. Yeah I need to bit the bullet and go in and get fitted for a pair. I also want to pick up a pair of vibriams and start doing some of my work outs (at least at crossfit, with the shorter runs) in them.time for new shoes new shoes. You know its funny, I am just two weeks into the main crossfit program and I am getting the bench marks of how much I can lift, since I have never really lifted before. I will say I am suprised with my strength when it comes to the olympic lifting categories.I'm at a weird point... my legs start to quiver and my back likes me less and less... but my legs are feeling LIGHTER the last few times doing back squats and I'm still increasing weight... 245 today.
Same thing I'm doing; in the past year, I've learned how to cook with whole foods, learning how to cook with healthy fat, and after reading Michael Pollan and Nina Planck, am really starting to distrust the FDA when it comes to nutritional advice.I have dumped pretty much refined anything...sugar, grains. DL is at 205
Back squat is at 185
and both have room. That being said, I am also consentrating on form so I dont want to go throwing a ton of weight on there just yet either. I havent been too sore from my lifting days.
Yeah our food is kind of crazy. I loved the book Ominovers Delima.Same thing I'm doing; in the past year, I've learned how to cook with whole foods, learning how to cook with healthy fat, and after reading Michael Pollan and Nina Planck, am really starting to distrust the FDA when it comes to nutritional advice.
Yeah I realise right now alot of it is just figuring out where I am. I am sure at some point it wont be as big of gains. The thing I didn't know about before all this is the "novice effect" an untrained human (male or female) can gain a lot in a short amount of time when starting from scratch. Its just about making the appropriate jumps (which is why dumbells tend not to work) and getting the appropriate recovery.
