They are crazy, but I'm not going to stop them from doing something they enjoy...

nor should you. To each their own with exercise...

I've been doing good while staying here in Indy. Have run twice and hopped on the stationary bike today. So I'm 3/3 on workouts. :)

If it wasnt so insane at work right now I would bring you that bike. But I am in cleveland right now, and I am probably going to be locked in a room with a computer all weekend. bleh.

Depending on how I run this Saturday, I might just keep them forever. I'm not ready for barefoot running and the Mizunos were like bricks on my feet...
I am thinking of giving the virbrams a try. It really is amazing what a difference in shoes when someone at a running store helps you out. I really wonder what my HS track seasons would of been like if I had different shoes (and more than one pair a year). At the very least I wouldnt of been icing my shins down every night.

Can you teach that mentality to others?

Quite the weekend of running.

Did my second 12 miler of this season, in a hilly area. Tough run, but quite satisfying. Good time to have a low miles week, that's for sure.

(side note- last weigh in for the competition- 175.0, from a starting point of 185- so I lost 10 lb in 12 weeks!)

So we slowly wake up this morning, and decide to run in our neighborhood 10k!
Even though I was pretty tired from yesterday's long run, I still managed to PR with a 53:43- shaving another 1:15 off of my best 10k time. Pretty cool, and even better that it's a local neighborhood race.

Again, I'm happy that I have a low miles week.:)

Awesome all around, but especially on the weigh in (that is, assuming you had an extra 10lbs to lose!)

Well, <s>my</s> the former roommate's WiiFit is gone. :( I'm having withdrawals already. However, as soon as I get some food in my system and let it settle, I'm heading out for a 6 mile run. Should be interesting...

As soon as people stop judging me for taking my shirt off at a hockey game :p
It would be nice if this country could get back to live and let live.

Ha, no judgement here! Now, throwing brooms on the ice, that's a different story... ;)

Thanks, and still have another 10 to spare.

So- how'd it go?

It went fine. That's the first time I've knowingly ran that far (who knows--probably back in high school cross country I did some 6 milers, but I was terrible about tracking distances back then.) Mostly, I just needed to burn off some steam and that did the trick.

I know; my running improved greatly once I stopped buying shoes at Payless and went to Running Circles instead. Not only did they put me in the right kind of shoe, they helped me with gear, gels, etc. Sucks they went out of business though.

Way to go 'diva! It's amazing what a long run does for your mood; I've come back from 10-11 milers feeling so much better than I did when I left. Just be sure you stay hydrated, especially if you're out for more than 45 minutes.

As for me, I ran 2 miles this morning in final preparation for the Fifth-Third 25K on Saturday. Even though it was a short run, I felt good, knowing that I got some sleep last night. After Saturday (and the 2-3 week rest period to follow), I'm going to move my runs to mid-morning or early afternoon. I am not a zombie; no sense in running like one. Tired of looking at myself in the mirror and seeing thick black circles under my eyes...

As for food, I've realized I've cheated myself for far too long. Starting next Sunday, I'm going to cut this reduced-fat/fat-free junk and go back to real food.

Re: Diet and Exercise 2010: Whatever it takes

Today was the first day I went to the gym since February! I am sore, but I told myself, when I get a job and a steady schedule, I would go back.

Yes. This. Oh my goodness this. Nothing against the reduced fat/fat free, because I feel they are great training wheels for those who are looking to shift to a healthier lifestyle, but so often you see they are pumped full of chemicals and artificial crap...ugh.

And, thanks :)

Awesome. Good work. :) Now, keep it up!

I ran 7 miles for the first time this year. :)

Good job to both of you!!

Just keep pumping.

LwB- good start- just remember that we'll be that good voice in your ear when you need motivation.

Bob- RE-food- I recently "gave up" on the low fat, too- just focusing on ballance and portion, keeping in mind the running. Now eat like a runner, and find YOUR ballance between fat, protien, and carbs.

That's the plan; I just got so tired of walking away from the table feeling unsatisfied and then binging late at night because I'm still hungry.
