Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

V-Mart hurt himself again. Torn meniscus.

give the old man a few months off and bring him in for the stretch run. At this time of year, I can still have hopes that the Tigers will stay competitive this season. :p

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Torn meniscus is only like a 4-6 week injury. He won't miss anything significant.

And it begins...

Yoenis Cespedes was scratched from today's lineup due to lower back tightness.
Looks like Hanrahan's career is over.
Detroit Tigers 2015: Roar, or Bore? Too early to tell.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Aren't we due for volume 8 of this?

Volume 8: Tito Francona

or

Volume 8: Gerald Laird

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

#8 comes when #7 hits 1,000 posts. And #8 has long-since been decided.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

So... AL Central, who ya got?

- Defending divison champs Detroit with ALL the pitching

- Defending AL Champs and wild card Kansas City with ALL the defense and bullpen.

- Completely overhauled for 2015 Chicago

- Close in 2014 but not quite Cleveland

- Worst starting pitching but 7th in runs scored in 2014 Minnesota

I don't know, I think pitching is actually the biggest question mark for Detroit. They already had no bullpen, now they've got rid of Scherzer, Porcello, Fister... and Verlander has been pretty bad. They have Price and Sanchez left.
SI thinks Chicago will be the most improved team in MLB and challenge KC for the Central.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I think we can all agree that of the choices, no one wants Chicago to win.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Really, really nice article in the Detroit News about Paul Carey this morning. Articles like this make me wonder if he's in worse shape than we realize, though.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

The Tigers are on MLB TV tonight. No, I'm not getting the homer light out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I just got back from lakeland and a few thoughts. It was brutally hot there. A guy had a heart attack in the first inning right in front of me.

Verlander-- not better than last year.
Price- about the same as last year
Miggy- will take a bit to get well, might start a bit slow.
Soria- absolutly lights out
Chamberlin- very marginal
Nathan- very marginal
Perez- not as good as last year if it matters
Cespedes- should be good
JD- killing the ball- will be great
Castellanos- sames as last year
Davis- really doing well-
Gose- tons of speed- hits ok
Simon- not all that hot, in fact mostly bad

otherwise had fun, and got sunburned
