Nathan to the DL with an elbow strain. Possibly more of a positive? Now Soria gets the closer role for at least 15 days.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Any news on Rondon? and btw, verlander could be out a lot longer than we all thought. I have no inside information, but...

MIGGY!!

3-0, 3 batters in.

You know what comes next.

We've got Soria, so we're set at closer for the duration. Getting there is the tricky part.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Victor plunked. Benches warned.

Strange warning, I thought. Already down 3-0 with no outs, up 0-2 in the count, no real reason he would want to hit him.

Tigers and Royals are the last two unbeatens in baseball. Due to scheduling though, the earliest possibility for a battle of the unbeatens would be the end of the month when both teams are around 22-0.

That would be a lot of fun to watch if that was to happen, but no way do both teams go unbeaten than long.

While I did watch the alumni game at the winter classic festivities last season, any insider tips for a visiting fan? I'll be in town next week for Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon. Staying at Greektown.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Opening Day in Pittsburgh about an hour away.

Yesterday they said Victor probably won't play at all to rest, so the offensive production will most likely go down, though it was probably going to happen anyway with the pitcher batting.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

If the Pirates keep the strikeouts down they should be able to compete in this series. They have a solid playoff team.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Rod isn't in the booth, they sent him back to Royal Oak or wherever the studio is. Jack Morris will be with Mario today.

As long as it isn't Gibson, he was awful on Opening Day.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Well. That's one way to start a game.

Eta. At Det, Detroit is 8-2 vs Pit. At Pit, Det is 3-10 since they started playing every year.

Detroit was a little unlucky that Cabrera was the lead runner that inning. Nice clean up job by Hughes though.

... and Pit gets the run back 1 pitch later.

162-0 isn't looking so good right now. Sanchez has given up three homers today.

Can we play the Indians again?
