Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Bases loaded, 0 out. New pitcher. Hey, let's swing at the first pitch. Just sit there at the place and scratch your nuts instead. At least then you'll only create 1 out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

161-1.

You gotta be pretty good to get Victor to strike out, especially to strike out on a check swing. That's one dude who doesn't guess on pitches too often.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Castellanos was about as useful as a limp dick in a whorehouse.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Just like that this team is 8-1.

Ten game home stand coming up, against teams that are currently a combined 9-15.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

With the exception of Sanchez giving up bombs in the opener of this series, the starting pitching has been absolutely stellar.

Bad news, though. Verlander had his simulated game cut short today.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I was one who always thought Verlander was superhuman and pitch counts/innings didn't matter to him. Leyland seemed to, too. Unfortunately it looks like that isn't the case. This injury, combined with his decreasing speed the last few years shows that he was probably overthrown early in his career

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

That was a well played series I thought by both teams. Hard to be upset with the Pirates pitching holding Detroit to 7 runs for the series.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Chris Sale is pitching Saturday at Comerica Park for Harrelson's Heroes. Looks like Saturday needs to be Binocular Day at the park.

2-1 final.

Iggy singles in the game winner after a butchered call at 2nd.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Just saw a replay of Castellanos' double. Holy hannah, that was an awful call.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Nobody. But.... no one has taxed the bull pen yet. Plus, Nathan will be back in three or four days. I'm thrilled we are getting production from the bottom of the line up and I'm thrilled with the improved defense.
crossing fingers ....

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Tomorrow's game will almost assuredly be rained out. So... do they try to get a DH in this early in the season (Tues or Wed), with cold weather coming in this week and starters and bull pens still not at full strength, or just push it out of mind and out of sight until warmer months?
