Can't wait to see Albuquerque pitch, also seems Scherzer seems to making up for Verlander's average year. I dropped dirks from my fantasy team and picked up young.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Actually, Verlander's numbers, outside of his W-L, aren't much different than last year.

4-0 through 8. Scherzer gonna Scherzer.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Yeah, Verlander's down in the 40's in the AL for run support for starting pitchers this year. There's like 55 eligible for the stat.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Thinking about the changes in the coming off season and putting yourself in Dombrowski's shoes... Boesch has worked real hard to get better and he has. He takes more pitches, is more discriminating on pitches he swings at most of the time and is getting some big rbi's , Given that he has only been here really two or three years and one he was hurt, I think they will keep him. Valverde, I wonder who is out there who is better, that can be gotten. same for peralta. they need to find a good replacement.
thoughts?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Well, after that you know what three words coming next...

Verlander. Gonna. Verlander.

Tied at the top. I have no idea how.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Weird Verlander stat.

Small sample size, but the 28 leadoff hitters this year have a .769 slugging percentage against him this year.

Babe Ruth's career average was .690

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Cleveland gets one early from what should be a passed ball from Avila.

Somehow I get the feeling that this is not going to be like last night, where we shut them down after that single run in the 1st.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Oh, good grief, Rod. Don't be telling us that one of our relievers has been unhittable when he's first coming into a crucial spot in the game. That never ends well.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Fielder doubles to open the inning and goes exactly nowhere.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Dear Mr. Peralta:

Re: Swinging at Ball 4

****ING STOP IT.

-Tigers fans.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

That ball would have hit him the ****ing tit if he hadn't swung at it.

2 runs against a team trying to finish last. I knew when Fielder doubled we were either hitting a walk-off homer or leaving him at 2B.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I think Gump needs a start behind the plate after today too.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

No. Marlboro Jimmy needs to catch Avila 19 of the next 17 games. After all, it worked so well last year...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Christ. Kelly 1B, Prince DH, Delmon off. Avila still starting.

Hasn't Delmon been on fire this last week?
