Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

JFC. You know it's going to be one of those nights when the ball boy down the 1st base line doesn't know the difference between a fair ball and a foul one.

3-0 Tribe, top 3. We're gonna **** around and get swept by Cleveland. 1-18 on the road in their last 19 coming in, and they're going to take 3 straight from us.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

All of a sudden Peralta and Avila are as useless as **** on a fish.

3 hits thru 5 innings. Ryan Raburn looks like Tony ****ing Gwynn compared to this merry group of derelicts.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Christ. Kelly 1B, Prince DH, Delmon off. Avila still starting.

Hasn't Delmon been on fire this last week?

Apparently he asked Leyland to take him out of the lineup because he does not hit Masterson well.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I want the Twins to help you, but they suck. Even with Diamond on the mound.

Of course, it is now 3-3. Nevermind, 4-3 Twins now.

CABRERA!!!

3-2 Tribe, bottom 6

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Now we get to see if Al-Al can throw strike-strike.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I was going to complain about bringing him in for his first action in a high leverage situation, but then I realized that Leyland would probably bring in Coke if Al-Al wasn't available.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I didn't know what was going to happen. Dude had a screw put in his elbow, and he immediately commenced throwing more sliders. The way things were going, that elbow was going to snap, and we were going to have to shoot him like a horse right there in the middle of the infield.

And now Avisail Garcia is going to PH in his 3rd major league game.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Peralta reaches via error, Avila by HBP. That's about the only way those two can get on base.

And Infante wastes them both.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Fielder leads off the 9th. Gee, where have we seen THIS before??

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Brennan, it's hard to get a hit when you swing at a pitch above the letters, and then watch the next two hit the strike zone while you stand there with your dick in your hand.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Let's just field a bunch of ****-throwing apes fresh from the Detroit Zoo tomorrow. They can't do any worse.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

So Henning thinks Marlboro Jimmy is getting canned after this season

Fine. If they don't reach the postseason, he should be shown the door. But that's not what got my attention. This little gem did:

Leyland is the best A to Z manager of our time in Detroit. Sparky Anderson won championships with the Tigers and earlier with the Reds. But in the multitude of ways a manager must run a team — and they are endless — Leyland is the best per category in modern Tigers times.

You gotta be ****ting me. Sparky Anderson. 6th all time in wins, more wins in his 17 years in Detroit than Jimmy has had in his entire career. Sparky actually won a championship. Jimmy got to watch us get beat in 2006. Sparky took Morris, Parrish, Whitaker, Petry, Trammell, Gibby and others and nurtured them into the 1984 team and another shot in 1987. Jimmy got to a World Series in his first season but has not developed a core resembling anything near what Sparky did.

Sparky is in the Hall of Fame, wearing three rings with two franchises. Marlboro Jimmy is barely a .500 manager over his career, and only got a ring that was bought and paid for by Wayne Huizenga's money. He developed a winner like I developed dinner by nuking leftover pizza.

Jimmy > Sparky in Detroit? My ****ing ***.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Dirks comes up HUGE to triple in Jackson. Now it's going to be up to Valverde to close it out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Ummm...I don't think we need Valverde tonight. At least we better not.

7-1 and the meter is still running.

7-1 final.

1 GB.

Valverde closes out a non-save situation without the use of Maalox or Immodium. Progress, I suppose..
