Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

About the only good out of this is Benoit and Valverde will get the night off. Fister will have to go 7 Thursday, because the bullpen is a hot mess.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Nice turd, guys. Porcello had a chance to escape on several 0-2 counts but threw pitches that were lazy and caught too much of the plate. Terrible location has been his problem since April. Oh well, the bats let Burnett off the hook, too, so plenty of blame to pass around. Granderson was the difference in this game.

Let's see how good that trade really was for Fister. If the Tigers don't score some runs it won't matter.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Don Kelly will play 3rd tomorrow, not Inge or Windmill Willie.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

No sense ranting and raving when we get beat 10-1.

To me, tomorrow is all about pitching. In the two games we've won, Verlander was Verlander, and Scherzer threw a gem. In the two games we lost, we've given up 9 and 10 runs. You can't win ballgames doing that.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Hopefully our bats have something to go off of for Nova the second time seeing him.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

I hope so, too, but if the pitching caves in again, it's not going to matter.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

I'd also appreciate it if Leyland doesn't call for a sacrifice bunt in the 1st inning.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Quick point of housekeeping: I intend to be away from the laptop tonight, unless circumstances change. Homer Light (and the other image that shall not be named at this moment) are entrusted to the Tiger Thread Regulars. You know who you are.

Hold your breath and hang on to your ***, gentlemen. We're going for a ride tonight. Where that takes us, I have no idea.

KELLY & YOUNG!!!

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Very... peculiar strike zone tonight for BOTH lineups. Umpy doesn't like the low right zone, but loves the outside left. Weird.

I hope that inning doesn't come back to bite us. (Yankees fan ;) )

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Did Leyland just make a defensive substitution in the fifth inning?

Wait, what?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Nothing new, been doing it all year once they get through Maggs in the lineup.
Right, but this early in the game? You don't think maybe you might want another AB out of him? I mean, the Yankees can score some runs, the Tigers could probably use some more too, no?

Leyland does what Leyland do, it's usually the 6th but if he has the lead, Inge comes in.

Soriano sure noticed this. He's putting every pitch right into that box.
