7-6 Final.

We're going to need to string a few of these together, because Cleveland isn't going away anytime soon.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Looks like the rain is going to cost the Tigers an early lead today.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Scott Sizemore is dealt to Oakland for David Purcey (LHP) from Oakland, and Danny Worth has been recalled from Toledo.

Huh. Maybe they could trade for a 2nd basemen that doesn't commit errors and can be put in the #2 spot. Like, I dunno, Placido Polanco?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Well, we get Danny Worth instead.

There's another move to come. Sizemore was traded for a pitcher, and then we called up Worth. When everyone gets settled, that's one too many on our roster. Plus, we've got to make yet another move to get Andy Oliver here tomorrow.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Time to pound on our boy Lynn Henning some more. Thursday morning's column produced this gem regarding Sizemore:

But a feeling within the organization, based on his profile and swing, is that he will hit.

Not 36 hours later, his latest column opens with this gem:

Friday's not-so-shocking trade, which sent Scott Sizemore to the A's and delivered David Purcey to the Tigers bullpen, essentially was made during spring camp.

So, the organization is so convinced that he's going to hit that they ship him clear across the country for a lefty who's been traded twice this year. Uh-huh. He's going to hit, but it's not-so-shocking that he got dealt.

Lynn Henning has about a much business writing about this team as Stevie Wonder does driving the pace car for the Indy 500.

Tigers rained out again today for the fourth time in two weeks, and the best part is that because the game has been rescheduled for Sunday night at 7, only ESPN is allowed to televise MLB during that time period. So, if you want to see Verlander and Beckett, you better have tickets or a really fancy radio.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Am I reading this correctly in that Ryan freaking Raburn is our new 2nd baseman?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Oh, boy. This might get out of hand before the Tigers get to bat.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Oliver better make an adjustment quick, fast, and in a hurry or he's not long for this game.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

He did pretty well to get out of the first inning. And 95% of the time, that fly ball from Cameron dies at the warning track. He is throwing a lot of pitches though. Almost 50 through 2.

A lot of game left.

Still peeved about the game 2 blackout. I'd rather have that game to watch than this one, even if the matchup is a bit more favorable for DET.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

He's lucky it's not 4-0 right now.

I'll have to see if the game is on an ESPN alternate channel on DirecTV. As of now it's not listed. I don't like my chances.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Yeah . . . you win. The pessimist in me thought that Oliver might lock things down after the 1st. And that he just got unlucky in the 2nd. But another HR . . .

DIRKS!!!

3-1, bottom 4. At least someone around here knows what to do with bat.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Apparently tonight's game WILL be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Well, at least there wasn't anything cheap about that homer.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Glad they didn't pinch hit for Raburn there. I always like having guys batting sub .200 with two outs in the 9th.

Bronco, just curious how you are a tigers fan but a sharks fan?
