Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Glad they didn't pinch hit for Raburn there. I always like having guys batting sub .200 with two outs in the 9th.

Yeah, with Kelly and Raburn hitting back to back in the 9th, I didn't like our chances there.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Bronco, just curious how you are a tigers fan but a sharks fan?

I was a baseball fan from age 6 or 7, so naturally went with the local team. Same with basketball and pro football. Out and out bandwagon jumped to Florida State for college football, but to a 9-10 year old, Deion Sanders and the Warchant was a lot more fun than Bo Schembechler. Wasn't a hockey fan until I was 12-13 (92-93), and the kid who got me into watching hockey was a Sharks fan. I have no idea how he chose them. The next year the Sharks upset the Red Wings and I was hooked. So basically, I ended up with the 1% chance of not being a Red Wings fan in Michigan. The last two weddings I've been in the groom that were born and raised in Michigan have been a Flyers fan and a Colorado fan. Go figure.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

That was a lovely shot of Cabrera spitting water out. Twice.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Verlander threw 132 pitches. That's more than plenty for him.

Over the last two years we've signed Benoit and Valverde. It's time for them to do their jobs.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Still, I don't want him pushing 140 pitches in late May. If it's September and it's do or die for the postseason, then it's a different conversation.

3-0 Final.

The bullpen held up.

My friends, I present a prequel to the Rod Allen beanball video.

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3t_uoXno3j0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3t_uoXno3j0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

Clearly, Rod Allen thinks Buster Posey is a *****.

CABRERA!!!

2-0, bottom 1. A laser beam into the bullpen

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Tell me that sergeant singing God Bless America doesn't look like a younger Rod Allen.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Dear Austin Jackson:

Bases loaded. 3-2 count. Heater at the knees.

Swing the ****ing bat. That's why they give you one of those when you go to the plate.

Much love,
Tiger fans everywhere

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

What a chicken**** display of hitting after loading the bases loaded with 0 out. That's got to be the equivalent of giving up a 3-run bomb in the top of the 9th. Which we just might see yet....

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Uh-oh....Gardy's gonna get booted. And he's got a legit beef.

6-5 Final. Great diving catch by Kelly to close it out.

Uhhh...Okay. We'll take it.
