Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

That was actually a better game than that night deserved.

Tough break for Coke, who might not have been done for the night. At least it wasn't the umpire having an itchy trigger finger. It looked absolutely miserable by the time he ordered the tarp out.

After a hit batter, and a fan screaming out "you're mother's a whore!!" afterwards (no, I'm not making any of this up), Schlereth is done. Not a good performance out of him at all.

Schlereth wanted out ASAP. Saw the highlight where he tried to give the ball to Leyland but he was actually staying in. Not shocking that he gave up a hit after that.

W T F, Martinez? That should have been a run. Get your *** home from 3rd.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

See, Victor? That's how we tag up and score from 3rd.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Had Victor tagged in the 2nd, we'd have the lead.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Bases loaded, 9th inning, and our #3 and #4 hitters strike out.

Son of a *****.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

There it is. It just came a batter later than I thought.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Well, it's quite apparent that Brad Penny has exactly diddly-poo tonight. If he gets out of this inning any better than down 4-rock, it's a nice escape.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

It's a nice escape. Now let's see if we can figure out how to get to first base without a GPS.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Saw on twitter that the Tigers are having Coke make his last start then back to the pen, calling up LH Charlie Furbush from Toledo. Speculation, but worthy of discussion. Benoit was yanked by Leyland, new set up guy is Al-Albaquerque....

Accurate, as usual. Brad Thomas to the DL, Furbush recalled.

Turns out it wasn't Hanrahan's wife that sucks.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

I have two requests, both similar. First, get Ryan Raburn off this team. I don't care where you send him. Minors, trade, waivers, whatever. This is the kind of guy that gets managers and hitting coaches fired. Secondly, either get Perry's arm checked out or dispatch him to Toledo, and let's see another arm in the 'pen. There is no reason to have a guy down there with an ERA in double digits two months into the season. His performance has been pitiful. 10.00 is great for a gymnast. A pitcher? Not so much.

Yes and yes. Funny how Karsch and Anderson talked about the same thing in lieu of Dirks. On the forceout play at home against Boston, both agreed- Raburn would certainly have thrown the runner out, IF he wouldn't have fumbled the ball first-where Dirks executed. That typifies his fielding- and no need to talk about his hitting.

Perry has been a bust since he's been with the Tigers. I don't know who they would risk bringing up from the minors, though. My next fear: losing Miggy to the DL.
That and of course we all know that Ordonez and Guillen are probably done. Too bad. This season had potential-except for the flops in the bullpen.
