Tigers come back to win 9-8 by scoring three in the ninth.
Guillen doubled to score Ordonez, Inge grounded out with two on. Santiago walked to load the bases. Damon (pinch hitting for Laird) walked in the tying run. Perez threw a wild pitch to Sizemore, scoring Guillen.

I do not believe what I just heard. A walk with the bases loaded to tie the game, and then the first pitch to Sizemore goes to the backstop. How the hell we won this thing leaving 16 on base is beyond me, but I'll happily take it.
Early candidate for managing move of the year: Damon pinch-hits for Laird with the bases loaded in the 9th, and he draws a walk. Laird would have swung at something over his head.

It blows that the Tigers get the Royals twice so early in the season, as opposed to saving some of those games until the stretch run when they've obviously given up. I really thought they should have at least earned some sort of fine for the "effort" they put out against the Twins in the last series of the year last year.

I don't think it matters when they play the Royals or Indians- they both stink, and better to get them when the Tigers are healthy, too. A 7-2 or 6-3 start is expected against the bottom feeders. They don't even get to enjoy their day off as they get to travel west. Next day off is May 6th, in the middle of another road swing. I will be intrigued with what they do with this impending 11 game road swing (longest of the season.) It only rivals the 10 game swing end of August, early September. Ironically, they end the season on a 7 game roadie with the last 3 in Baltimore. The good news, I guess, if they can survive, is they don't have any far western road swings after May.
The pitching is still a concern, with their ace getting lit up and no one starter going past 6 innings. The bullpen is going to be worn out by June at this pace. Seen a rash of errors starting, too, although they have managed to overcome them by taking advantage of poor Cleveland and KC bullpens to come back and win games they would lose to better teams.

Big Boy drives in 2 with a double to RC. Gets us back to within 3-2, top 4.
King Jeremy the Illiterate got focused on picking off runners instead of pitching in the bottom of the 3rd and threw one past Cabrera with Ichiro on base and 2 out, and that eventually led to 3 runs.

This is pitiful. The entire Mariner team is swinging the bat worse than Gerald Laird and they've got 6 and counting on the board tonight.
