Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Just how "not nice" is that part of Detroit? I've driven through parts of Harlem in the 90s where it was not recommended to stop at red lights... wasn't pleasant, but I survived.

The areas of Detroit that are this bad (and there are a lot of them) are residential neighborhoods, and not the route Hammer is suggesting.

Maybe so, but some of the lights on Temple Street are awful close to Cass Corridor, someplace I'd much rather not be, day or night. I've seen signs there talking about not picking up prostitutes, and even saw one of them run up to a Channel 4 News van.

The girl was a business women, just just wanted to advertize her goods. ;)

Allright, I got my ticket. I'll be in Section 119 Row 38, wearing a maroon replica UMass jersey with #12 on it and rooting for the Lions. If you are in that general area of the stadium, come by and say hello.

(unfortunately, they don't sell #11 UMass jersey -- otherwise I'd wear that. Since folks on here are knowledgeable about Lions history, I assume you know which #11 I'm talking about :) )

Ummmm.....wow. For the first time in about 11 years I think we might have an honest-to-goodness running back.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

And in a few weeks you'll be able to blow out another NFL team by 40. :D

If that's a catch, someone needs to be fired tomorrow morning.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Good grief. Best looked like he was shot out of a cannon.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

his stats are amazing and even more so that he was really the only guy philly need to game plan for with stafford out.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

After today's Vikings debacle, you could make an argument for the Lions being the second best team in the NFC North

Jahvid Best is a freak of nature.

Well Cooper won't be on Philly's hands team again.

He is, but he's got a group of crap-throwing zoo creatures around him. From a 17-7 lead, to down 35-17, to running around with our asses on fire in the last 4 minutes, only to come up with absolutely nothing with the game on the line in the last drive.

This ****ing team sucks. All of it.

We *are* talking about Shaun Hill.

Typical Lions, planting the seed that they just might come up with a clutch play on one last drive, then don't.

Still, there is more fight in this lineup than the last couple of seasons.

Both games were 100% winnable but for some reason Linehan tried to win both on one play. Last week saw three straight incompletes deep to Johnson to lose the game. This week there were four straight to lose the game. We had plenty of time on the clock for two straight weeks and tried to get the whole thing in one play.

At least you Lions fans have something to build on and your team is willing to fight for coach. My team is going to be a fan of Vegas insiders everywhere. The Bills will singlehandedly pull gamblers out of the recession. :D

Had a nice trip to the Ford Field this afternoon -- thank you Hammer for your suggestions on where to park. Had no trouble getting out of the lot (the price for which, btw, was $20, but so were all the other lots in that area), though there was a massive accident on i94 near the airport that caused considerable delays -- I got off at an exit right before Middlebelt Rd exit and got to my flight well on time.

A couple of miscellaneous thoughts:

1) Ford Field is *loud* (though sound from announcement was barely audible in 119 even when the crowd wasn't screaming).

2) My seat was next to the row occupied by the parents and relatives of Philadelphia #54 Brandon Graham. I talked to them a bit and they are the nicest fans of a Philadelphia team I've ever met. Then again, they were all from Detroit. :)

3) Jahvid Best is really, really good.

4) I think that this Lions team is not as bad as their record currently states. I don't think they are superbowl-good (yet) but I think they'll be a pleasant surprise for fans in several games. A couple a bounces here and there, and they'd be 2-0 right now. I wish them luck and will be rooting for them in every game except for the Turkey Day Game...

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

If they keep the essentials (Megatron, Best, Stafford) this team will be in the playoffs within 5 years, and won't embarrass themselves.

Sounds like a bland statement, but this is the Lions we are talking about. ;)
