Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

If they keep the essentials (Megatron, Best, Stafford) this team will be in the playoffs within 5 years, and won't embarrass themselves.

Sounds like a bland statement, but this is the Lions we are talking about. ;)

I think two more years of drafts, primarily defensive back 7 and offensive line would get them to 9-7/10-6.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

The word is process.

Here is the process by which the NFL loses me as a paying customer for EVER. Unfrelling believable. I watch the Lions to see how they can screw it up not how the NFL can bone them in the arse.

Well......Shaun Hill has thrown 3 processes in the last two games and though the Lions are winless, I like the way the team is competing. The games have been entertaining .

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Shaun Hill has stones the size of boulders. It's the OL that is killing this offense. We knew the back 7 of the defense was going to be frightful at times.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

I gave the coaching staff a free pass last season. I anticipated a better start, but injuries are a good excuse. BUT, I think the honeymoon for Schwartz and co. is over. His clock management and strategy is erratic and poor. His glib pressers suck. He's losing the fanbase to an extent.

That said, the O-line has been ignored on draft day, and as much as local sports radio is defending the o-line (read: Backus), they are gonna get anybody under center killed. The secondary is the weak link of the defense and is playing five yards off of the receiver on every down. The linebackers are serviceable, but no way can they continue to compete if the best part of the defense- up front- can't get to the QB.

I said 4 wins at best this season. One was already taken from them and the other games I expected them to lose so far, including this Sunday. And the Bears are the worst 3-0 team in the NFL, so I still think they can be had in Detroit.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Took a while for the D to find their groove yesterday in Green Bay, but it only took the last drive for them to lose it again.

But the O? Man, I'd almost rather get poked at with a sharp stick than watch that. Even a decent offense will score on TD out of 4 awesome chances. It's like once they get inside the 20, everything changes.

And I lost count of the penalties.

We need to change the title- 2010 Lions- " close to being great for the 50th season in a row. Too bad " close just gets them to be bad, and not decent.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

At least your team is going in a positive direction. You'll get your road win Nov. 14. :D

There are positives on your team. The Bills make the Titanic look like the USS Constitution. We have nothing.

Suh will get at least 3 sacks that game. Best could get 200 yards and Stafford will find Calvin Johnson at least 5 times.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

 The Rams are terrible at football.
The Lions have outscored their opponents 126-112 this year.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

F-ck the Rams. I'm sure the Lions loss to them last year helped inspire this colossal flogging. Nice to see them sack up and dish out a vicious beating on someone. This was due.

Thanks to the refs boning Detroit in week one though, the Lions still appear awful in the standings. Meanwhile, they should be 2-2 and one of those teams that no one wants to have to play when they NEED a win. These Lions are a pain in the arse and I appreciate that.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

still pretty speechless.

Honestly can't figure which was more meaningful- the Rams or the Lions score?

The second half against Green Bay was pretty strong for the D- so seeing two games in a row was nice. Still saw too many very poorly missed tackles. So did St. Louis help the D?

OTOH, I was bashing the O pretty badly. And they did score. Still- I kind of think that 44 was more a fluke. Hmmm.

44 was a fluke. At least 14 points came from special teams/defense. Score like this on the road and I'll notice, especially against a team better than the Rams.

So scoring 30 from an offense lead by a backup QB on a bad team is still a fluke?

Yes, although if you listen to Doug Karsch on WXYT today, you would think that the offense is "set" since it is the highest scoring team in the NFC. The problem isn't scoring- they can- it is scoring when they NEED to, like in Green Bay- and they haven't gotten that far yet.

Good for the Lions, but I'm not drinking the limeade. They still need line help- plus Johnson, Best etc. are hurt or playing hurt.

Reality slaps them and their stupid, classless showboat behavior against a real defense this weekend.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

So it's Drew Stanton at QB and the defensive equivalent of 11 retards trying their hand at Final Jeopardy. Oh, and a 21-10 deficit. This ought to be a rousing success.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Why is Drew Stanton still in the NFL?

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Matt Millen put him here. *shrug*

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Hmmm. A Calvin Johnson sighting.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

Within 4 in the 4th quarter.

Now, for the inevitable screw job by either the defense or the ever lovely officiating.

Re: Detroit Lions 2010: Let's do our Best to keep our Johnson in our Schwartz, okay?

I hope this is better than it looks.
