No dice on getting Mallett. Arkansas Jones is going to get him so he can push Romo out in Dallas. Might be better to stick Stafford for at least another year next year, make some more upgrades elsewhere. Maybe draft a QB in the later rounds who could be servicable if given some time to develope.

One more year. You draft another QB in 2011, it's another $50 million. Give Stafford one more year to get hurt, and draft one in 2012, when I expect new rookie draft caps will be in place.

Buffalo has been to Superbowls within recent memory. And they stayed at that level for 4 years, which is quite a feat in itself. Lions, the only good thing we've had in our past was Barry Sanders, and as great as he was, he simply wasn't able to lift the whole team to the leve were they could regularly make the playoffs every other year.

This. The only thing that Detroit has (had, until Stafford got hurt again) was hope for the future.

I still maintain Detroit is making the playoffs in 5 years (this year is year 1). Buffalo doesn't have that. But they do have the recent past (decade or so).
