Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Matthew Stafford had a kneecap sublixation. Translation: He dislocated it.

OW.

They're waiting on an MRI to see if there was any other damage done, but they think he'll miss one week, two at the most right now.

That sounds a lot worse than a "twisted knee".

So I wonder if they are scouting for their top five pick yet? :p

streaker, you know better than that- next year is offensive lineman year. Then we have two years of wide recievers. THEN the QB. Can't change those plans.

So what blubberbutt are they gonna pick out of Wisconsin? ;)

I'll hold to this: I like Schwartz. Given some time, and no interference, he may get them to some respectability in the next five years. That is, unless he decides to take the Browns job first. :o

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Is this team SOOOO bad that nobody even wants to talk about another loss?

Dante started. I think the worst was 3rd and goal from, what the 40 or so? This was preceded by a pretty sad intentional grounding- missed the LOS by about 2 yards.

The Lions tried to come back and tie, but, alas, after marching down the field for a hope of a possible tie, a couple of sacks and it was over.

Pretty sad D, once again.

Ugh.

I think the biggest stunner was the game wasn't blacked out.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I can't really get that upset at the team this year, they're actually trying and giving an effort so far. I can't get mad at that.

That said, I'm glad it's Daunte getting sacked seven times and not Stafford. I give the team credit for still trying to run the ball even though they were being stymied. 20 carries for Smith against the Steelers when they had that shut down relatively easy, while fruitless, means they didn't snap into being one-dimensional. They made a nice drive towards the end of the game and started scaring Pittsburgh that they might have another gag-worthy comeback against them. I was expecting a thorough blowout but to lose by 8 isn't so bad.

Thank the Steelers fans for not having the game blacked out is my guess.

It wasn't blacked out in the Detroit area? Seriously? Minimum attendance requirement must be REALLY low as the entire upper deck looked completely empty on TV.

The announcers did make comments about the yellow towels in the crowd. Thankfully, Pittsburg is a relatively short drive. And there are a lot of Steeler fans locally.

No, the place was packed. However, it was about 70% Steeler fans. They must have been showing the club seating area of the upper bowl. Those seats are never sold out, I believe they cost $140-$240. The NFL does not count premium seats for TV blackout purposes.

OK, I'll buy that. I swear every time I saw the upper deck on TV there were 5 or 6 sections in a row without a single soul in them.

If you were a Lion fan at that game, you'd be standing in the beer line instead, too. :p
