Denver Pioneers visit the MN Golden Gophers Oct 23-24

Re: Denver Pioneers visit the MN Golden Gophers Oct 23-24

IMHO Hill should not be coaching the Gophers or D1. Guentzel had a lot more going for him than Hill does.

Yes! Can we please please please have that discussion yet again? I'm sure there's nothing better to talk about.

With Ron Jeremy being a Pioneer fan I'm sure they have plenty of that.
Stormy Daniels segway...

Highlights from DU Game Notes.

• DU ranked No. 4/5 after starting the season No. 1/2 in the national polls.
• The Pioneers are 3-1-1 in their last five games against Minnesota and 6-3-1 in their last 10.
• DU offense averaging 2.75 goals per game, while defense is allowing 3.5 goals per game.
• Pioneers are 3-3 in their last six games at Mariucci Arena vs. Minnesota.

Forward Joe Colborne is doubtful this weekend after breaking his index finger on his left hand last weekend.
Forward Dustin Jackson is out for the season with a broken leg.

Re: Denver Pioneers visit the MN Golden Gophers Oct 23-24

What exactly is the tv schedule for this weekend?

Re: Denver Pioneers visit the MN Golden Gophers Oct 23-24

TV Schedule

Friday: FSN-North, FSN-Rocky Mountain, FCS Central live at 7PM CT

Saturday: FSN North - tape delayed (check your local listings) - DG says Direct TV is showing it at 2PM CT Sunday afternoon on FSN-North. I am showing a DU/MN game at 3:30 PM ET on Sunday afternoon on FCS Central on Cablevision in NY(It doesn't say if this is a repeat of Friday's game or a tape delay of Saturday's). I would suggest everyone check their provider for the Saturday tape delay game.

It makes so much sense that one game is live on three stations and the other game is not live on any station.

It makes so much sense.

From the article: In just eight games played, he's seen some of college hockey's top teams. Patterson has faced North Dakota three times, Minnesota Duluth twice, Michigan, Minnesota State and Michigan Tech.

:p

Kangas on Friday & Patterson on Sat. for Minnesota.

Chevy on Friday & Murray on Sat. for DU.

We know Chevy is #1 even if Murray is playing this weekend. Kangas was the man ( ) for the gophers last year. Could this be a Patterson year or is Lucia switching to a rotation?

Sounds like it will be more of a rotation. I bet Kangas will get more starts than Patterson, but he won't be ridden like he was last year. Coaches believe that might be what went wrong with him down the stretch.

Patterson is completely capable, I think he is quite a bit better than many believe.

I actually had higher expectations of Patterson before he ever played a minute than I had of Kangas before he had ever played a minute.

A lot of goalies come into college hockey having received very little constructive coaching except at specialized goaltender camps. Give them a year with a college goaltender coach and some guys can blossom their Sophomore or Junior year.

Brian Elliott only played 15 games combined in his first two years of college. Now he's in the NHL.

Patterson is a fourth rounder, and Kangas is a fifth.

Can't really read into that though I suppose. It's a crapshoot with goalies. They were also drafted in different years.

Elliott 9th rounder - Frazee 2nd Rounder.

Why do they even bother to draft young goaltenders? Seems like a waste of a draft pick to me.

Frazee is good again though. He was awesome in the AHL last year.

Your point still stands though. Seems nearly impossible to tell if an 18 year old, regardless of what he has done, will be able to cut it in the NHL or not.
