Re: Democratic Challengers 8: Candidates Can Only Work for A Vegan Farm Market

According to a study from Brown, the cost of the War in the Middle East was 6.4 trillion. That, plus the current 2 trillion dollar military refresh Trump just bragged about, would cover free college for roughly 175 years under Bernie’s legislation.

The money is there as long as it’s not spent chasing oil.

the money is not there... it was borrowed :p

Why is this so hard to understand? Or to understand that this would be effective stimulus instead of ineffective stimulus.
He either understands this and is parroting a dumb talking point (because he just doesn’t want it) or he’s actually too dumb to understand basic math.

Do not ride bareback until you get fixed.

Therefore, the free college plan will not be passed anytime soon. So, find a more realistic plan. Not difficult to understand.

Yeah this logic totally follows!

It does. There's ALWAYS money for something. It's a matter of what for, and what can be passed. Try living in the real world for once.

Re: Democratic Challengers 8: Candidates Can Only Work for A Vegan Farm Market

Try using your brain for once, if the money is there for endless wars that cost 20x as much as free college for 175 years (lmfao) then it’s obvious that we need better politicians in office who have better priorities that reflect the will of the people in a democratic society. The nice thing is we have a candidate for president who shares this ideology and can be voted for in the upcoming primary!

The reality is you just don’t like the idea of free college even though you of all people could use it the most.

You're so cute when you try and troll.

His tolling notwithstanding he's absolutely correct that we have more than enough revenues to cover the proposal if we reallocated our resources - especially portions that are wasted on the military.

“I don’t understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for,” she said. “I don’t get it.”

There is 23 Trillion dollars missing. Just imagine how much that money could empower the workers and businesses of today.

And I have also said the money is there. The issue is getting stuff passed/enacted. Heck, we could easily solve the Homeless/Hungry problem, too, if we reallocated money.

First people have to stop swallowing the failed trickle-down tax policies the Rs have been using to enrich the wealthy at the expense of the working class.

I doubt that. Many homeless people are crazy - not pejoratively, actually. There's a large adult subset who try to actively avoid the societal norms for whatever specific reason, so they end up on the streets. We can help those who are simply down on their luck financially, the abused or the LGBTQ kids who were had to flee a dangerous home, but we are not in a place to help everybody because it would require some sort of coercion.

We created homelessness in the 70s by adopting the "entrepreneurial" (read: neglecting and sociopathic) economy, which was a horrible mistake, and by abolishing involuntary holds at loony bins, which was well-intended but also needed to be accompanied by enormous investment in care which of course no selfish shortsighted Republican as-shole was ever going to go for.

The downfall of America was when we started to craft policy to appeal to the LOL "conservatives" -- the worst 33% of us. We should have told those losers to sit down, shut up, and maybe we wouldn't cut off their government cheese.

We should do that now.

Few people actually believe in trickle down economics anymore. The poors aren't voting GOP because they think they'll get some benefit from billionaire tax cuts. They're voting GOP on racial issues.

Regarding Kep's comment about crafting policies to appeal to conservatives, sadly 40 years ago and for a decade or so afterwards the majority of people actually believed that sh it, not 33%. They might still believe it had Clinton not crushed that notion both in his 1992 campaign and his subsequent handling of tax/budget/economic policy which laid waste to the idea that tax hikes on the rich would hurt the economy. That's been a major shift in attitude from the public, which is why the last two tax hiking Dem Presidents were both overwhelmingly re-elected when previously that was thought to be electoral death.
