Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

How much of this country doesn't even have broadband service?

Why don't you concentrate on fixing that first. Vote Donnie again, he's right on top of that.

Vote Donnie again? You're the exact type of person I can't stand. Because I am offering a different opinion than you it means I voted for Trump.

Also, expansion of cellular networks has slowed while phone carriers are now able to abandon POTS copper services because they offer "alternatives" (read:Cellular and or Satellite service) despite those services not having the same coverage area as POTS.

How about this, then: pontificating from a position of willful ignorance (information is available, so you have *chosen* not to seek it out) and questioning whether documented facts are correct help the side that is trying to do the things you are questioning. Why would you go around helping those scumbags and then not vote for them yourself?

It makes no sense.

Endorsing?

Not in any of the reports this AM. but I saw reports last night her people were in touch with Bernie's negotiating. I'm guessing she was also negotiating with Biden.

Endorsing?

Press conference this afternoon I saw. Maybe something then? Somebody check Bernie's schedule and see if he's in the northeast today. ;) That ought to give us a clue.

National broadband isn't profitable, so no one is trying anymore.

Needs to be Gubmint. Remember the Information Superhighway? That was proposed by Clinton.

Bill Clinton.

That was 25 years ago. We could have had it for 20 years now. Guess who stopped it?

She will never have this leverage again. If she can get Biden to back the bank truck up she could go with him. Assuming she gets enough*, with actionable guarantees, I say do it. I would rather have a 100% chance of 50% of what I want than a 50% chance of 100% of what I want.

I am a conservative fellow... ;)

* Far stronger CFPB, consumer-friendly credit reform, major financial services reforms, her choice of Fed Chair

I hear ya but I don't know....I'd like to see her remain true to herself, and if she's not going to be Prez it sure seems like she's more ideologically aligned with Sanders. Biden also doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would hold it against her so hopefully no worries there. In the end though I'm not sure her endorsement will have the impact that the Clyburn/Klobacher/Buttigieg/O'Rourke endorsements did for Uncle Joe which completely changed the race.

She can remain true to herself by locking key parts of her agenda in with Biden. I mean, if we want to be cynical about it, if Sanders does win she gets everything she wants anyway, so why take the risk?

Also I think she is actually midway between Biden and Sanders ideologically. Let's not forget her "I am a Capitalist" speech. She is a hero on consumer reforms that benefit the middle class, and that is great, but she is no proletariat revolutionary. If she can lock Biden in to her consumer protection, credit, and student loan policies she's done more than a good day's work.

It is very, very strange to me that she didn't take off. She seems like the perfect mean between Biden and Sanders. What's the explanation? Is it really just pure sexism? People can't stand a determined woman who is light years smarter than they are? Are the masses really that awful?

I don't know either, but personally she was the candidate I've been the most excited about since Bill Clinton in 1992. Back then he represented a breath of fresh air from the idiocy of the previous 12 years and although my home state candidate was a good man and a dedicated public servant (Tsongas) you have to acknowledge when someone else is better equipped to take us to the promised land. Biden is like the Tsongas candidate this time for me - decent guy by most accounts but I would have bet the mortgage that Lizzy would have been better suited to get the handoff and take it to the house. Her ability to explain complex issues and have solutions that fly in the face of the lunacy we're dealing with now (fortunately only 4 years thus far instead of 12) were top notch. Don't get it but c'est la vie. At least she's still in the Senate.

Honestly, part of it is people with in with high expectations from her on policy, and she delivered just that, so there was nothing to report. The media coverage wants you to either over-deliver or under-deliver, and when you just deliver (which is not a bad thing when there were high expectations), they treat you like a non-event. And the people are going to react to that, when a person is covered like an also-ran the voting will go that way.

Missing the forest for the trees again.

If Biden sees a less than 50% portion of the D want what she wants, and an almost 50% portion of the country wants what he wants (mainstream D), how does moving farther left benefit him?

Amazing how you guys keep thinking this is a free stuff communist country when the facts are so different than what all y’all want to see :p

Americans want no part of that. There is a reason after all people here escape that :)

Are you sitting the next one out or voting 3rd party?
