That was hard to watch. Warren really wanted this and it obviously breaks her heart.

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

Sure seems that way unless you live in a true swing state. And if it was Trump/Sanders I would look for 3rd party. Might even write in Jerry York.

It might not seem like margin matters, but it absolutely does.

It sends a message you don’t approve of how the other side is conducting themselves.

If someone wins 100,000,000 to 50,000,000 that sends a pretty clear message compared to 65,000,000 to 61,000,000.

I really can't understand how she didn't do better.

Voting for Jerry York is voting 0.5 for Dump.

I don't see how anybody can do that.

I saw this coverage today and it seems pretty mild. Sanders has every right to go after Biden's record as the contest is far from over. Biden had a surprisingly coherent response:

Dueling Biden versus Sanders interviews

Get ready for three more months of this.

At least.

“There’s an article — I don't know if you saw it today, The Wall Street Journal, Wall Street starts opening up its wallet for Joe Biden. He has more than 60 billionaires contributing to his campaign,” Bernie Sanders told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow yesterday.

Joe Biden’s response from his interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie: “It's ridiculous. Bernie you got beaten by overwhelming support I have from the African American community, Bernie. You got beaten because of suburban women Bernie. You got beaten because of the middle class, hard-working folks out there Bernie. You've raised a lot more money than I have, Bernie.”

More Sanders to Rachel Maddow yesterday: “We're going to the Midwest, Michigan. Michigan was decimated by terrible, terrible trade deals, NAFTA, PNTR with China, which cost our country some 4 million good paying jobs. I walked the picket lines against NAFTA. I went to Mexico to see what NAFTA would do. Joe voted for those terrible agreements.”

More Biden to Guthrie: “Let's go to Michigan, Bernie. Let's see if that's true. I'm the guy that helped bail out the automobile industry. What'd you do old buddy? Come on. This idea of that my record is a problem, this is a guy that voted against the Brady bill five times for background checks on people. ... I welcome the competition, Bernie. Let's talk about your votes, let's talk about my votes. Let's see what the American people say.”

I got to hand it to Joe...those are some solid responses.

Joe should have more opportunities/moments like this. He has a lot of money and support behind him. In theory he'll be well prepared to combat Bernie. He just scares me in a debate setting.

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

It is very, very strange to me that she didn't take off. She seems like the perfect mean between Biden and Sanders. What's the explanation? Is it really just pure sexism? People can't stand a determined woman who is light years smarter than they are? Are the masses really that awful?

Anecdotal I grant you...but that seems to be the case when I hear people discuss her. All of the complaints against her are strengths for other candidates. hell women I know didnt like her for many of the same reasons they didnt like Hillary...despite them being very very different.

A woman running cant be too feminine, but also not too much of a hardass either. they have to walk a very thin like. And god forbid they know what they are talking about...that leads to talk of snobbishness and being standoffish. And again, that is from WOMEN.

After the election, it would be an interesting sociological study to go back and see how the women were treated by voters and the media in various situations as compared to men in the same or similar. it would open a lot of eyes. As someone who was (this cycle) first for Harris and then for Warren I noticed various patterns.

That makes zero sense to me but ok. But let's keep crying about voter suppression.

Again, how does that actually help voter suppression? Especially when smart phone access is less common for the people being suppressed.

Should we give everyone a phone??

I am talking in more general terms. There are examples of other people not being able to get to a polling location due to work/family/health or people who are indifferent towards voting and don't go. If you give them a smartphone option while maintaining physical polling stations that can only increase voter turnout.

True and its even more than that. Had this conversation with my cousin's wife on Facebook who made big spectacle of voting 3rd party in 2016 (Johnson) because she was all pure and was upset by both parties (she's a teacher and Gary Johnson wants to eliminate all federal education funding, but whatever). I blasted her over that when she started her don't blame me I didn't vote for Trump schtick after he went full Nazi on us. While its true her vote in Mass didn't swing the election, you can't go around saying how you can't be corrupted and are voting your principles, but then expect the people in swing states to not maintain their purity and do the right thing for the good of the country. It doesn't work that way. There's nothing stopping them from saying "hey, if my friend can do that, so can I, besides my vote probably won't make a difference either." Then the next thing you know you're seeing the headline "Donald Trump Re-elected"

Had Bernie kept it at the differences of policy and Biden's voting record, sure. But he suggests there's a conspiracy against him. No, there is not. We don't need another person making crap up to vote for him. We need to get past that.

Again, it's not as if I really disagree with what he wants to do- I agree with quite a bit.

It's that I'm not going to listen to someone making crap up that people are out to get him. Bernie lost fair and square in the states he lost- deal with it, and make me want to vote for you instead of against the other guy.

I'm not- I'm looking for actual solutions to areas who have had their poll locations eliminated in spite of the growing population. you know actual real problems.

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

If me not voting or voting 3rd party etc based on a Trump/Sanders ballot is a half vote for Trump, so be it. Give me a quality candidate to vote for next time.

After the election, it would be an interesting sociological study to go back and see how the women were treated by voters and the media in various situations as compared to men in the same or similar. it would open a lot of eyes. As someone who was (this cycle) first for Harris and then for Warren I noticed various patterns.

If I had to pinpoint her problems, I'd say it was two things:

1) The M4A muddle was a disaster. If you recall she was all in favor of Sanders bill, but then whipped out a plan to incrementally get there which pleased exactly no one. If M4A is your most important issue, you know had zero reason to back Warren because she wasn't as committed. That was a disaster because those were the voters she needed. But if you think an incremental approach is best you had plenty of choices that you could trust more, most notably Buttigieg who did very well initially in the first couple of states.

2) I appreciate the hatchet job she did on Bloomberg, but it wasn't a good look when she kept it up during the next debate. Not that Bloomy didn't deserve a proper vetting, but at some point the question was asked if she was more interested in taking Bloomberg down than in winning the race herself. She needed to be spending those last two debates drawing a contrast between her and Bernie. Yes she went home with Bloomberg's nuts in a jar but with 60Bn he can most likely afford to purchase them back. In the meantime a similar version of Bloomberg with a few less 000's at the end of his bank account is now the front runner.

If me not voting or voting 3rd party etc based on a Trump/Sanders ballot is a half vote for Trump, so be it. Give me a quality candidate to vote for next time.

The world doesn't revolve around you. ;)

No it doesn't which is why you can vote however you please

Hey man, the potential of higher taxes is way more disgusting than the death of science, treating women like cattle, kids in cages. The candidate has to have enough charisma or it’s just not with casting a vote to get trump out.
