Re: Demcratic Challengers 11: Saving the Republic one voter at a time!

FTFY. Don't be mad that the Dems learned from the GOP's disaster 4 years ago when it came to Trump.

I am not mad, I have no issue with them consolidating I literally said that was the smart move. Dont equate me to trix and Kepler I can see the forest from the trees. :)

If the Moderates get behind Joe and win fine. My problem, and this whole discussion (at least on my end) is with the idea of it going to a convention and letting the SDs decide. If the Moderates find a way to win without the SDs then you wont hear a complaint out of me. I may not like Biden at all but if he wins the most delegates more power to him.

Re: Demcratic Challengers 11: Saving the Republic one voter at a time!

And you continue to miss the ****ing point, which is sad.
How far up Bernie's *** is your head?
I don't think it's me that's missing the point lol. I'm the one that actually wants to put forth a candidate that can win.

We may be stuck with Trump no matter what, but stop treating every other candidate as if they're the only lost cause. You want everyone to kiss Bernie's *** while being a smug, condescending d**k toward everyone else. That sounds like a winning formula.
The other candidates are garbage. Bloomberg is an oligarch and mush brain got us into the Iraq war and **** near cut SS in 2010, not to mention he has zero chance of beating Trump. So yeah I'm going to continue to do that.

More smugness, oh joy.

Re: Demcratic Challengers 11: Saving the Republic one voter at a time!

I am not convinced Biden can develop the groundswell win. Both Joe and Bernie need to draft their cabinets well and go public with at least their key choices as soon as one of them becomes the nominee. Both of them need to demonstrate they can take a "Team of Rivals" approach to governance.

This is precisely why he's Karl-Eduard von Trixler. That, and the self-righteous indignation at the suggestion anyone else's views might have merits, or that Bernie has flaws. Then there's the facetious circular arguments about what will happen if his preferred candidate doesn't win, so therefore you should definitely vote for his candidate...or else. Oh, and of course the open repetition of alleged fascist and establishment conspiracies against his candidate. :D

Just curious, what is your solution for deciding the nomination if nobody gets the majority? Are you simply saying the plurality wins, even if its like 40% to 39%?

I go back and forth on it. Sometimes I think it should just be vote after vote until someone wins but the fallout from that could be ridiculous. The ratings would be great though :D

Other times I say most delegates at the Convention wins. If no one hits the threshold but there is a clear enough lead (something outside the margin for error...I will let stats geeks decide that part) then they get the nomination. This would only really come into play if there is 3 viable candidates though unless people vote None of the Above.

In reality no system is going to work perfectly but the absolute worst is for the Superdelegates to have the power to decide. They should never have that much overt power. It is a very bad look on top of the fact that it basically makes the entire Primary Season a worthless joke. Keep the power brokers behind the scenes. If they want to get Biden the votes they can horsetrade the unsuper delegates. Having these insiders be unpledged delegates not beholden to their state and able to vote on a whim is just ridiculous.

I am open to ideas though because reform is needed and not just the half measures they made after 2016.

I was going to post something similar the other day. With a candidate that is going to be disliked by an entire wing of the Party they need to find a way to show their approach will benefit all sides, not just their own. Bernie cant beat Trump without the Moderates and Biden cant do it without the Progressives. (Bloomberg cant do it period)

Of course you brought up Team of Rivals so SUNY-Hipster is gonna tell us all about how overrated Doris Kearns Goodwin is because...well that is how he rolls :D

Re: Demcratic Challengers 11: Saving the Republic one voter at a time!

A new poll has Biden with a national 8% lead over Bernie. But if Liz drops I have to think her supporters flip to Bernie

I get what you're saying. I'm of the mindset that everyone knew what the rules were going in. My quirk would be that you do the unsuper delegate horsetrading in the first two rounds, but after that supers would get to step in and end it so we don't have 30 rounds of voting. I don't feel the primary season is a joke if it gets decided this way. It would just be that no one wing of the party is dominant so they'd both have to come up with some sort of arrangement.

Re: Demcratic Challengers 11: Saving the Republic one voter at a time!

Sam Donaldson mumbling on msnbc about why Bloomberg is the only one who can take on trump. Painful.
