Re: Death to the Incumbent!! Your guide to the 2010 primaries

Too convenient.

In other words, Scooby doesn't care about what they say, he's all about timing. Besides, everyone knows they're just a bunch of racists, just ask Kepler. HE WENT TO A TEA PARTY IN VIRGINIA AND IS AN EXPERT.

Irrelevant to what I'm talking about. I happen to agree with some of the tea party platform and I agree with you that there all not a bunch of racist knuckledragging neanderthals.

That being said this is all too convenient for me. And the movement will ultimately fail because the country right now is stuck in a malaise of "no compromise" politics. No one knows that better than a Minnesotan after Pawlenty's reign of lunacy.

OK, let's review:

(1) You said I got all my information from left wing web sites and I should go get some first hand knowledge.
(2) I informed you that I have been to a TP event and I talk to TPers all the time.
(3) So you reply mockingly.

I did not claim to be an expert. I was pointing out that your assumption was totally wrong.

Worse yet, I was the one about a hundred pages ago who went out of my way to point out that 99% of TPers are not racist and aren't motivated by racism at all. Telling Obama to go back to Kenya isn't them saying "he's black," it's them saying "he's un-American." Which is dumb, but a different kind of dumb.

You're having a really bad day. :p

I just don't remember the mass protests when the bailout was being voted on. If there's a link to a story I wouldn't mind having my memory refreshed but this seemed to be more of a post inauguration thing.

The dry tinder was there, and the bailout was the spark. Even under those conditions, it takes a while for the fire to spread - you're not going to have a raging inferno on day 1.

It's not like spending and corporate welfare suddenly got out of control starting with bailout, though.

I don't think I saw anyone mention this, but I was somewhat surprised (because I haven't been following the primaries all that closely) to see that former NBA player Chris Dudley won the Oregon Republican gubernatorial primary. I think it's safe to say that, if elected, he would have the largest feet of any governor ever.

I can only speak for myself and not all of my fellow conservatives (though my views are hardly unique to me)... But I was quite upset when Bush and the GOP bailed out Wall Street, I was upset with Obama's stimulus package, I was upset with previous failed stimulus packages (i.e. the $600 checks most people got). And I can say with all honesty that every time one of those events happened my first thought was "shouldn't we be putting some money towards paying off our national debt?".

I don't have a link, here is one example of what I remember. In California, a huge number( close to 100,000) of folks wrote, emailed, called Feinsteins(sp?) office to throw in their 2 cents on the bailout over 80 thousand were against the bailout, she flat out said you little people don't know diddly squat and voted yes. Folks were pretty riled up after that.

Well, she was right. Wrong thing to say, but still right. There was no partisanship on the bailout and everyone who knew anything about the subject said it was necessary to stabilize the markets.

Unless you're talking about GM. In that case it was pure vote buying. TARP never was though.

She may have been right, it still riled folks up

And one only has to look at the markets today to know that they were indeed correct.

Return with us now to those thrilling posts of yesterday and that lying sack of chit Blumenthal. Now it turns out one of the Marines he trotted out during his "I only lie occasionally about my Vietnam service" photo-op was a hall of fame Vietnam phony--complete with valor medals he didn't win and a commission. Too funny for words.

Ok, this is a funny quote:

Golf clubs aren't exclusive, Paul said, because Tiger Woods has "brought golf to a lot of the cities and city youth and so, no, I don't think it is as nearly as exclusive as people once considered it to be."

I like Ron Paul and I might like his son (although his son ran on a much more social conservative platform), but I'm not sure anybody can get away with a remark that out of step with The Common Man, whatever that is. :p

Yeah, as much as I like Rand, I don't think he's having such a good day. When a reporter questioned him about this, his response should have been something along the lines of "Hahahahaha".

Plus he was kind of taunting Obama this morning as well, begging him to come to Kentucky this morning to campaign against him. For a guy who's a little fringey, I wouldn't want to be turning off potential voters.

THIS is interesting. Turns out in the full video of Blumenthal's questionable address, he did refer to his service correctly earlier. Hmmm...yet an article was written taking a snippet of video supplied by a potential opponent...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100519/ap_on_re_us/us_blumenthal_vietnam

Look, Blumenthal said what he did, it was stupid, and anybody who wants to vote against him because of it has every right IMHO. However, I don't see this rising to the level of "claiming medals he didn't earn" (not sure where that came from) nor the Tim Johnson analogy (the manager, not the Senator) who told hundreds of stories of actually going out and killing people in Vietnam which were all BS.
