Palin's nomination would be life imitating Idiocracy. Given the primary wins by Angle, Paladino and O'Donnell, it's completely plausible.

Once you have either major party nomination, you start with a 40% zombie share of the electorate, which is striking range of Armageddon.

A couple of things. First of all, O'Reilly had his facts wrong. Second, there's an 8 second delay from Alaska evidently. She was waiting for him to finish talking, otherwise the whole interview would have been them talking over each other.

The 8-second gap is a fair criticism. Of course, there's also a strange 5 second gap in every Palin interview. :p

BTW, if you want to put Palin in the same category as Eleanor Holmes Norton, I am right there with you. There's no IQ test for being in the party cognoscenti. :)

* And not the women. All Irish women can stay and, indeed, they should send more.

Let's be reasonable about this. Just deport West Virginia males -- it's fairly purple. (This has nothing to do with living near the WV border and wanting a hunting lodge. Though it is a very pretty state.)

What would the Big East say? Not that anyone would care. :D

Of course if we deported West Virginia, the rest of the country would get an economic lift as all those federal agencies Robert Byrd got located in West Virginia would have to go elsewhere. Now there's an alternative stimulus plan!

I was thinking we could just sell it to a bunch of libertarians to set up their own minarchy in the middle of the US.

Actually, if we sold WV, we wouldn't need to deport anybody. The new owners would have all the cheap labor they'd need to create their Capitalist Paradise and we'd save billions on welfare and medicaid. Michael Vick would also have a place to have dog fights, Palin would have a place to be Goddess-Empress, and Texas would have somewhere to threaten to secede to. Everybody wins.

This is an honest question: was he regarded as a slimeball before he decided to make things difficult for the GOP? I'd thought there was a time when the smart money said he would have been a legit VP candidate if only he didn't have Teh Gay? :confused:

I definitely remember a time when the Dems hated him, as opposed to now when he is of course just "being principled" (c.f., Republican reaction to Lieberman).

At least with the Libertarian bid, she could claim a somewhat realistic shot at winning. With this, it's all spite. No way she convinces a plurality of the electorate to vote for her, but if she can take 5% away from Miller, she'll be pleased I bet.

The GOP should immediately yank her committee assignments.

I really disagree. She gets 34% in a hypothetical poll with her name on the ballot, and she's somehow going to convince every single one of those people to write her name in, PLUS get an extra 5% from somewhere to win?
