So, how'd that whole anti-incumbent thing work out in the primaries? I heard like 2 out of 84 or so got the axe.
How did Alvin Greene get nominated in South Carolina
But the campaign ought to produce at least one wince-worthy Jesse Helms Memorial Sub-textual Race Baiting Moment.
I love the south.
From what I've read, he has no idea himself.
Too bad his opponent, who is a total bag of hammers (DeMint), is assured re-election anyway. Baby Jesus couldn't win that one for blue. But the campaign ought to produce at least one wince-worthy Jesse Helms Memorial Sub-textual Race Baiting Moment.

That's why I don't understand the insinuation that some are tossing around that this Greene character is somehow a GOP plant. DeMint was winning any way you slice it, no matter who the Democratic candidate was. What possible incentive would they have to do that?
Nikki Haley rolling to victory in the SC Gov runoff tonight.
Tim Scott wins the Republican nomination in SC House District 1. Looks like somebody forgot to tell the Tea Party that they were a bunch of racists.
The South Carolina republicans did make it a point to look like absolute backwards morons. The way they've treated Haley and the way they're talking about not supporting her because she isn't one of "them" is absolutely disgusting.
Oh sure. That seemed like it was more of the good ol' boys being sore losers though than any racism from the Tea Party, who were among the first to back Haley.
In other SC news, Rep. Bob Inglis has gotten trounced in his primary runoff. Was rated as pretty conservative, but told his constituents to turn off their Glenn Beck program (among other things) , and that just could not stand.
To most people the Republicans are the same evil creatures that slithered about the earth during the '60s, '70s, and '80s. That's why they have them all pegged, reflexively, as racists. Sure, there's some morons out there that go to these protests... but you don't see the anarchists and the Maoists featured during the anti-war rallies despite their presence. Most people don't quite realize its 2010 when you can actually have legitimate grievances with your government on the conservative/libertarian side.

Meanwhile, the only thing between the Republicans and sweeping gains in November is... themselves?
You forgot to tell the rest of the story. i.e. That the Reps wanted to pay for the cost of extending unemployment benefits with unspent money from last year's stimulus program. The Dems didn't like that idea because it would mean cutting out too much pork. So we have the Dems trying to make the Reps out to be meanies because the benefits extension hasn't been passed, when in reality the Reps are willing to go along with it as long as it is payed for up front (and even suggested a way of paying for it).
Sure there's politics going on. But the Reps offered up a very reasonable compromise to get the extension passed and the Dems balked. The Reps have NEVER passed something that wasn't paid for. Good for them for standing up for their values.
Now that the dripping sarcasm is over. This is politics plain and simple. Both parties are both voting the party lines. It has nothing to do with saving or spending money. It has everything to do with who pays for their votes.
