Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

A bit to add, a court decision says that if it's clear the voter intended to vote for Murkowski, even if her name isn't spelled correctly, but close to it then the vote must count.

My friends and I were just talking about this at lunch. What if the oval is filled in on the ballot for write in, and the name they put in is "Murkowski" with no first name. Do they presume "Lisa"?

Yah, could be a vote for Dad. This stuff always gets messy and murky. Doesn't seem like Miller is getting any breaks from the courts.

Either way it's hard to feel sorry for him. How is Lisa winning? He won the primary, he's on the ballot. She had the mountain to climb.

Same here. Only one way to deal with trolls. The reality-based community should put Palin on Ignore.

Ok, so since you clearly haven't put her on ignore (or at least hadn't as of a few months ago), are you saying you're not part of the reality-based community?

I mean, comeon, you've been on the bash Palin bandwagon for 2 years.

Dear City of San Francisco,

Please leave the parenting to parents. Quit trying to do stuff like this.

Thanks,

People with Sanity
Isn't it often parents who push for this sort of crap? Like how it was for video game ratings, for instance?

I think it's a minor subset of parents (and other "child advocates"). The Sheila Brovloski's of the world, primarily. Speaking of which, time to watch South Park: BLC again (blame Canada!)

Right, that's why I think the Miller ruling is silly. If you're going to be strict with Murkowski, then by all means be strict with Miller. But if you're going to start determining what a voter "clearly intended" to do, then you have to count Miller's votes imo.

It's pretty clear how she's winning. Looking at the House race, the Democrat got 30% of the vote. Here, he's getting 24%. Where do you think the Democratic vote went? Not that I'm saying that's unfair, that's totally what I'd do if the roles were reversed.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

I see Pelosi got 80% last night. I had figured Dennis might get to 30% or so.

Lawrence O'Donnell: RAND PAUL WILL KILL AMERICA or something.

For what it's worth, DeMint says he won't stop it.
Senate conservative leader Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said Wednesday he would not stand in the way of hiking the $14.3 trillion statutory debt ceiling, which Congress will have to tackle early next year to avoid default on U.S. government obligations. Republicans will extract a price for such action, however, which may include some form of down payment on spending cuts.

"You don't have much choice if you charge something on your credit card. You have to pay it, and that's effectively what this debt limit is," DeMint said in an interview with National Journal. "If Republicans have to do that on their own, they need to attach some legislation to it that forces us to move towards a balanced budget. Otherwise, I think the American people are going to look at us and say, 'The Republicans still don't get it.'"

Here's the basic feeling of the vast majority of Alaskans: Joe Miller is crazy nutbag lying *hole dbag. He really messed himself over the past few weeks. It wasn't the media, it wasn't Murkowski, it wasn't the "Alaska Establishment", it was Miller.

Well, I hope for your sake up there in Alaska that you elected Lisa then and corrected the wrong. It would be a shame that you get stuck with that after finding out the truth too late.

BTW, it's pretty weird to see all this attention focused on Alaska. I didn't think this was gonna be a big deal.

That's exactly why she ran the write-in campaign and why she looks to win. We've already got one bad Senator in Begich, we don't need two.

It happens. We elected Ventura when we shouldn't have. And The Terminator destroyed California while he was in office. Sometimes the best intentions blow up in your face.
