Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

geezer and wewantmore,

(translated) "The Poles don't mean nothin".

You're right. Polls almost always tighten up before the election.
I give the Dem's chances of retaining a Senate majority at about 75%.

I think the Repubs will control the House, though.

Here's hoping Barry goes all Slick Willy after the election and backs off carbon taxes, industry nationalization, etc.

edit: maybe not? Ultraliberal Newsweek columnist and Dem Senate candidate Mickey Kaus loses faith.
What yesterday's comments suggest isn't just that Obama will get clobbered in the midterms. It suggests that after he gets clobbered he won't be able to adjust and turn the setback into a longterm victory the way Bill Clinton did. Clinton reacted to his 1994 midterm loss by acknowledging his opponents' strongest arguments and pursuing a balanced budget and welfare reform. Obama seems more inclined to just tough it out until the economy recovers and the scared, confused voters become unscared and see the light. Meanwhile, he'll spend his time in a protective cocoon.

and how did this fall to page 2, 2 weeks before the election?

I can't get that clip to run, but I assume it has to do with Aqua Buddah.

"And secondly, when is it ever a good idea to tie up a woman and ask her to kneel before a false idol, your god, which you call Aqua Buddha?"

Dude. When ISN'T it?!

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

I have to ask my righty friends if you think "restoring America" means politicians having their private security force handcuff and detain journalists at public events?

Imagine if a Democrat had pulled this crap...
While you're at it, try imagining if a Fox News reporter shoved someone into a locker at a Democratic event...

Two sides to every story - plenty of poutrage on both sides of this one.

That's the one. Try this.

The guy followed Joe Miller into the bathroom for cripes sakes. Was he going to shake it for him when he was done? Then he shoved another attendee at the rally into a locker.

Now, was handcuffing the guy going too far? Yeah, I'd think so. Another gaffe from Miller, in a campaign that's been depressingly full of them. But my sympathy for the reporter here is about zero.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Is "poutrage" a personal coining? It's as good as wahmbulance for capturing a specific phenomenon. Nice.

Perhaps - can't swear that I haven't heard it before, but it just sort of popped into my head.

Edit: it's in the Urban Dictionary.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Six years of control of the House and Senate by the Liberal Lunatics has ruined this country. 11/2/2010-kick the Loons to the curb and take our country back!

If the replacement is not much better, and I will contend that the idiocy has extended at least the past 10 - 14 years, then throw them all out.

Repeat as necessary.

Ummmm....the 2005-2007 GOP Congress were Liberal Lunatics? Because, see 2006 when the Dems took control of Congress was 4 (try counting back from the # 10 to the #6) years ago, not six unless you have a time machine.

Ah, the intelligence of the average conservative Republican voter...

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Almost did a spit take when I read this in the Wall Street Journal this morning:
"It's pretty clear the American people expect us to use the existing gridlock to create compromise and advance their agenda," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.). "They want us to come together [with the administration] after we agree to disagree."

We do? Really?
How does one compromise on cap and trade? How does one compromise on a stimulus?

We used to do "sneaks" in my days at DU. Pledges would "kidnap" an active and take him "against his will" to some "secret location" (normally a motel room equipped with lots of beer, munchies and a TV). They'd leave behind clues on where to go to "rescue" the "victim,"(one of which was always at Buffalo Bill's grave). I would hate to think of what a professional adsmith could do with that: dark monochromatic photographs, shadowy films, voice of doom announcer and funereal music.

I'm not surprised some students at Baylor resisted the strong religious doctrines there. Have they changed the rules to allow student dances? They didn't permit it when Paul was there. But by all means let's make a big friggin' deal about some undergraduate hijinks from 30-35 years ago. As Bob Schieffer said to that toad Axelrod, is that all you got?

Good point. Also, don't forget that this is Baylor - they would probably characterize the Wesley House as an anti-Christian organization...

And how about Newman House or worse, B'nai B'rith.

By giving a little, taking a little, letting your little heart break a little...

It's nto so much comprimising on a given specific issue, but prioritizing where you pick your fights - fine, do the stimulus, but give up on health care. We can't afford both. We'll agree to tax cuts, but we also have to cut defense spending to compensate.

At least it would be a step in the right direction.
