I liked Darren McGavin in almost anything. In the early days of TV he did a Mike Hammer series. He was terrific in "The Natural" and brilliant in "A Christmas Story." He was the king of pilots. He'd be in the pilot, the network would buy the show, and somebody else would be playing his part.

They're sticking to their story that Ramirez died of "natural causes." Is having an Acme anvil dropped on your head "natural?" California hasn't executed anyone in 7 years. Texas hasn't executed anyone in 7 days. Ramirez stood about as much chance of being executed as he did becoming DU's starting goalie. Every pending execution in California is a BFD. Remember all the barnyard excrement about Tookie Williams? He wasn't a bad guy. He'd written a children's book. What's four little murders? He's repented.

Actor Harry Lewis dead at 93

Don't know much about him, but I sure recognize him from _Key Largo_.

He was also in _The Harder They Fall_, a boxing film, which was Bogart's last movie--just watched it recently on TCM.

Anyone ever been to either of his two restaurants: Hamburger Hamlet or Kate Mantilini?

False rumors of his death were spread on Twitter. One of those who spread it was Rafael Nadal.

A number of news outlets are reporting he's actually improving, but others are cautious.

I should think in this case "improving" is a term of limited significance. Sadly.
