Dead Thread - 2020

The whole thing, to be honest.

Carey's whole career, to be honest.

Man on the Moon was great. Credit where it's due.

So was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

And I dislike Jim Carrey's acting quite a bit (never saw Man on the Moon, but was told I would enjoy it by a friend who I trust knows my taste)

So was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I hate that movie with the fire of a thousand suns.

By all rights I should love it but I hate every character in it -- I want them all to suffer eternal agony. It's so precious it makes 500 Days of Summer look like Au Hasard Balthazar.

Man on the Moon is great because Carrey never once acts like Carrey, and because he was obviously influenced and impressed enough by Kayfmann to do it with respect and honesty. It's a genuinely great performance. The most unexpected I've ever seen. It's like Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces.

Man On The Moon was excellent, and I hate Carey, and never got into Kaufman's bit. I understood the latter's act, just wasn't my thing.

Carey channeled Kaufman to a T.

He seemed like a genuinely nice man while he was with the Vikings. That’s a sincere shame.

By all accounts, he was a good guy. Standup, honest, etc. He just wasn't up to the expectations. He'll be missed, mo def.
