DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Just saw it on MSN. 2016 can't end fast enough. :( That's two Star Wars actors this year, as Kenny Baker who played R2D2 died earlier this year as well.

There were a few others but bit players only. Red squadron leader or something...

Anyway the tribute video at the next Oscars might take up the whole show. :(

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Goddammit. And I had just posted a meme on my FB recently:

"Nice try, 2016. I'm too badass for you!"

:(

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Based on all the news reports it seems like everyone is so surprised by her passing so quickly. I'm guessing they thought she was going to pull through based on the "she was stabilized" report coming from her mother.

Good lesson. Stabilized means just that. Not getting worse, not getting better. I figured in this case it meant they had her on advanced life support and they were just waiting to gather friends and family to pull the plug. She almost certainly never regained consciousness and was probably brain dead in all likelihood. :(

yep. My mother passed away from a massive heart attack (worsened by the fact that the ER didn't realize it was a heart attack for hours and she was in a smaller regional hospital and was airlifted to a larger hospital, but the helicopter had to be rerouted because of fog adding an hour to the trip). She had a triple bypass but it was too late. I was in Europe when this went down, had to get to the airport and get the first flight to Boston and catch a bus to Portland, ME. She was 'stable', but would never regain consciousness, and passed shortly after we okayed them to take her off life support (temporary pace maker and ventilator). The cardiac surgeon said that if he had gotten her sooner (like if the first ER had followed the proper standard of care for her symptoms and immediately checked for cardiac issues), the outcome would have been different, but by the time he saw her her heart muscle was 'like hamburger'. He was surprised she made it through the bypass surgery.

The fact that Fischer went into cardiac arrest meant the outlook was not good. The people that do recover from cardiac arrest usually have some kind of 'electrical' problem with the heart, not a blockage that is causing cardiac tissue death.

Hamburger... I'm not sure I would want to hear it that way. Seems odd and off-putting to hear it that way.

Worse yet, how does a hospital not recognize a heart attack?

Heard her be interviewed a few weeks ago. She sounded like she was in a really good place :( Stabilized means she was not needing any new immediate intervention. Other than than that it means squat

Women have really bizarre sx that are not heart attack like at all. One of my preceptors had worked in the Cardiac care unit. SHe got ear and throat pain and felt a sense of impending doom. NO classical MI sx. No Chest pain, shortness of breath, arm or jaw pain. She told her hubby she was having an MI, bring her to the ER. He thought she was crazy. She went to ER. The ER thought she was nuts when she told them to hook her up and run enzymes. She was having the MI. When they did the Stress Test she got the exact same sx. My Aunt had no sx at all but her EKG showed she had had a fairly sig MI at some point.

That said- if you aren't sure- order the enzymes and slap some leads on

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

I read that as "women have really bizarre sex"

Then the whole post becomes absolutely wonderful.

Now I'm intrigued. What is classical Michigan sex? Why does it involve chest pain? I mean, I get the jaw pain and shortness of breath.

;) :D

yes, but basically he meant no muscle tone -- massive death of heart muscle

well, people got fired and the hospital paid a settlement (but it wasn't huge -- 6-figures). But yea, they screwed up.

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

The mouse that got into my dishwasher's grinder pump. Oh he was dead. Very, very dead. Or rather, I think it was a mouse based on the three small bones and small tuft of debris or fur.

No victim too large or too small for 2016

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

2016 apparently started early too, I keep seeing things listing Lemmy among the year's victims, when he died Dec. 28, 2015.
