3-0 final from Utica. SOG 31-9. Lamoureaux score EC's 3rd goal. By my count Utica got 1 shot in the 2nd ...and 2 shots in the 3rd.

EC 1 for 6 on the PP, Utica 0 for 5.

Todays win vaults Elmira into 2nd place in the ECAC West.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

OK -- this one is nagging me:

What does the "LL" stand for in the boxscore? I see it used when the tie is broken and the eventual winning team pulls into a lead.

Does it mean: "lengthening lead", "last led", "lounging less", lead lengthened"?

Help an acronym junkie out...TY FYI GTG

#2. Last Lead as in last lead change. So there's an LL for any game that doesn't end in a tie. you are correct!

In baseball that's how they figure the game winning run. In hockey the game winning goal is the goal that gives you one more than the other guys got. In baseball it's the run that gives you a lead that you never give up. In baseball the losing pitcher is the one who gives up the LL run. In hockey the losing goalie is the one who gives up the GWG. That's why Fisk got the loss for Norwich the other night even though Fortin gave up the goal that gave Platty a lead they never lost.

Hahahahaha! Thank you all!

I've been trying to figure this out. Used Google, no luck. Even emailed someone @ CHStats ... no reply.

Finally ....

If you REALLY enjoy acronyms then walk around an aircraft carrier sometime. Even the WWII museum ones have an enormous amount of government graffiti all over them. It is acronym heaven (or hell).

If your such a smarty pants...can you run through the other acronyms that are used by USCHO in the boxscores. Most i get and I'm sure I'll be embarrassed when you tell me the ones that are presently eluding me... Honestly I tried to find an index but...

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

EA = Extra attacker....

(Kind of like wandering into one of the Elmira/Plattsburgh threads??)

First off, why is that?
Second, I knew what EA meant. I was asking 5 4 if that was one of the ones he couldn't think of.

I bet its GWG....that is a tricky one. The only acronyms I have ever really seen are GWG, GT, LL, EA or EN, PP, SH. I don't know what is confusing with those. I remember one men's game a few years back there was an AG...awarded goal. This happened when one of the teams was down by a goal late in the game and the goalie was skating off the ice and his replacement had already gotten on the ice...the other team stole the puck and had a unopposed breakaway...and the goalie coming off went back and knocked him down. Ref's said the player would have scored if the goalie hadn't done that so awarded the goal anyway. I thought it was a UWS game but can't find the box score with it

Nothing personal intended ... just commenting that those threads tend to include a bunch of gratuitous personal attacks, insults, etc. You know, as if there were an Extra Attacker "on the ice."

And I certainly did not intend to imply an ignorance of acronymia on your part.
