Sure, if they are given out on the same merits that they would be handed out to regular students.

But this article explicitly states that both girls were in pursuit of and received "hockey scholarships" and makes no mention of anything having to do with academics.

These kind of releases happen all the time in the D-III hockey world on the men's and women's side.

I wouldnt read too far into it.

Oswego has a tremendous international aid program, probably tops in the SUNY and I'm sure these girls got some of that money.

Winki, lets carify. Your beef is with the author, Shawn Caley of the Durham Region... not either of these girls. I don't see them as being quoted anywhere saying they were getting a Hockey Scholarship. Full Stop. He can be reached at scayley@durhamregion.com.

Lets move on... before I begin to think this whole thing is just another weak elitist attempt at trying to lay claim to the term "Hockey Scholarship". :rolleyes:
