I'm glad you want to keep this going, after you were so quick to try and get rid of it yesterday, but no, I don't think I do. While it's nice to know we have reporters out there that are writing about things they don't fully understand, the fact is if a subject of an interview says "I'm going to school X because I received an academic scholarship and want to play hockey there" then it wouldn't have magically been termed a "hockey scholarship" in the article. If it's called a hockey scholarship or left intentionally vague in the hopes that people would assume it was a hockey scholarship, then this is what happens. If you don't think there are players, and even worse, parents that do and say these things to puff themselves up, then you are crazy.
Of course, I never actually accused these girls of this, mind you, though you seem to think I've personally attacked them. In my first post you will notice I made an either or statement. I feel just as strongly that there are schools out there that offer inappropriate "scholarships" to players and I know that there are coaches out there who take financial aid packages or other aid available at their school and gussy it up together and call it a "hockey package" or "hockey scholarship" because there are so many Canadians who do not understand the NCAA rules and don't know that they can't receive hockey scholarships at D3 and they are more likely to feel special or important if they think they are getting scholarships based on their hockey talent as opposed to an academic scholarship that any good student could have.
Sorry sweetie.
