D3 Hockey is back!

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

To be quite honest, I don't know anybody at St. Scholastica, or anybody affiliated with that program. Though, as a former player, I remember that we always could figure out who certain posters were. I don't even know much about D3 hockey. I have some friends who coach D3. I have only been to a handful of D3 games and have since started following because I was surprised at the level of play. It's good hockey. D1 players and fans who have never been to a quality D3 game should check it out. I am happy to be simply a fan of women's hockey now. I hear stories from my friends who coach and you couldn't pay me enough to deal with the things they deal with.

Based on your reply Canuckwatcher/Mr. Hunt, it's obvious to me that you realized that you made your daughter look as bad as it does. Nobody wants a "quitter" on their team or somebody who walks out on their teammates. I know for a fact you aren't a parent of an alum, because as a proud alum at a different school, my parents nor would any of my former teammates parents who are proud of the place they played at give out information about the place they are proud of like this.

Enough said. I would be willing to bet the program (while vulnerable) is much better off without your daughter. I've been on a championship team and what I do know is that we won a championship because everybody understood their role and accepted coaching decisions that were made. And, if they didn't like them, they did something about it to earn their playing time. Your posts have now actually made me a St. Scholastica fan as I will be curious to see how the rest of their season goes.

I'm pretty sure that his daughter is no longer on the team because she graduated. I hope that whatever university paid for you to be on their team isn't depending on you to be an academic ambassador for their school because you really aren't that bright.

Ouch! I guess taking the high road was not an option? Just because your name is Richard, you don't have to be a *ick.

Plenty of others have tried the high road and it just doesn't work. I'm also fairly convinced that "fanofgoodhockey" is your alter ego...

I also enjoy the concept of you criticizing someone for not taking the high road...

I can scan and email you a copy of the alum newsletter I receive in the mail if that would help you out, maybe as a "new" St. Scholastica fan you will feel compelled to donate, I know they would really appreciate it!! If I wasn't concerned about identity theft I could also send you my daughter's birth certificate clearly indicating no relation to the Hunt's. These forums are all about information, updates and fun banter back and forth. No shots or negativeness was directed at any player, school or coach. You jumped to different conclusions and being someone who was at one time associated to the school and team, I can say you have no clue what you are talking about. Think about it, if this was my daughter and I was upset, fairly certain my post would have taken a few shots at someone, AD, coach, players, mean teachers, somebody!! Player quit (no reason provided), new player with no hockey experience added, end of story. And as a final point to further express your complete lack of understanding your quote "I would be willing to bet the program (while vulnerable) is much better off without your daughter" is factually incorrect. Look at their record this year compared to previous win vs loss records. Enough said!! If you post your address I will send you some Saints gear I don't wear as much any more!!

CanWatcher - I think you're fine, it's when they call you "bud" is when you need to watch your step.

There are a lot of weak teams out there. If you've beaten any of the teams on this list don't get too excited about your season just yet because they simply aren't good teams but if you want to pad your schedule with easy wins next year make sure to get these teams on your schedule:

From the new CHC
Becker
Canton
Daniel Webster
Johnson & Wales
Salem State
(probably Morrisville too)

From the ECAC West
Chatham
Cortland
Neumann
Potsdam
William Smith

From the MIAC:
Augsburg
Hamline
St. Benedict
St. Catherine
St. Mary's
St. Olaf
(possibly Bethel too)

From the NCHA
Finlandia
Marian
(possibly St. Norbert too)

From the new NEHC (former ECAC East)
New England College
Nichols
Plymouth State
Southern Maine
St. Michael's
University of New England
(possibly UMass Boston too)

From the NESCAC
Hamilton
Wesleyan
(possibly Colby too)

From the WIAC
Eau Claire
(possibly Superior too)

Playing any of these teams does nothing to add any quality to your Strength Of Schedule. It does the opposite.

I believe you can now officially withdraw SNC from your list, and many others. It's a long season and development takes time, especially with a new coach taking over and introducing a different style of play to a group of young women who've already proven they can compete with the best! This SNC team can win their conference championship!

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

We're going to find out all we need to know about St. Norbert the next two weeks. They host Adrian this coming weekend, and then travel to Lake Forest the week afterwards.

Cuz they beat a team with a losing record?

Cuz 3 years ago they beat Superior then went on to win the Conference Championship vs River Falls. Now Year 6 in their program these Sr's are hungry to win a 2nd championship. Plus last year with more then 3/4 roster full of froshs & Sophs they had a good run, that experience along with great goaltending, and the team playing much better in 2nd half under new coach is Why they can win!

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

I will give SNC some due credit on their W/L record, but not their SOS. That will hurt them.
I'm only looking at stats and you obviously have a connection up there, but I wouldn't use the word "great" when describing their goalie. Especially when looking at conference only numbers. Last years final numbers, yes very good. Even great IMO.

Trust me...I'm not discounting St. Norbert and in no way do I believe they should be included in the "slop" category. However, is anyone from the team 3 years ago still around? That team was mostly juniors/seniors who graduated the year after. On their "good run" last year they had 7 games against Finlandia and Marian. They finished the season on a 9-1-3 run with 7 of the 9 wins against Finlandia/Marian and a win against Augsburg. I would expect most teams that aren't s--p to get 8 wins there. This year they have beaten 1 team with a winning record (augsburg...what? they have a winning record?)

As 123 said, their Strength of schedule is crap and as Hammer said, the next two weeks will show us where they belong.

Your defense of SNC is noble...but its similar to me coming on here and saying that Superior is a good team...which unfortunately this year, just isn't true

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

I know we've had discussions about running up the score and stuff in the past...but after Adrian's 15-2 drubbing of Finlandia yesterday...after their 11-0 drubbing the day before, some questions come up.

Most Notably...Adrian's Kristin Liwecki, the nation's leading scorer, after her 7 point weekend, scored with 34 seconds left in the 3rd period up 14-2. At that point, shouldn't you have at least your 2nd line in? lol

Once we got to the 8 minute mark or so, we had something else on our mind. We were actually trying to feed one of our senior defensemen for her first career goal, so they put her out there with Lewicki and some of our other top scorers, and had her up at forward, in front of the net. Lewicki tried to get her a goal, and I think it wound up in the net on a deflection.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Also, look at that scoresheet again from yesterday's game.

Tzafargalou scored two to give her 3 on the season. Noles got 2 more to get her to 3 as well. Both of those two are defensemen. Shureb got her first career hat trick (she's got 19 goals in 3 years). Murray got her 2nd goal of her career. Krasofsky got her 3rd goal of the year. Diaz got her 4th of the year. It's not like our big players all had 8-point nights. Our "big scorers" scored a whopping 5 goals on Saturday.

There were a lot of new faces on the score sheet, that, frankly, was pretty nice to see. And we spent the better part of the last 8 minutes trying to get Dupuis her first career goal, which, unfortunately, didn't happen. :(
