Platty gets a big one despite terrible refs lot of bad calls huge missed calls.

One at the end of the third could have been a game changer EC player makes an obvious hit in the corner which isnt called then a chip call is called on Plattsburgh ten seconds later.

Plattsburgh Goalie Mackrell had a big game as did Brit Meade

All in all tougher play as Houle said in the paper by Plattsburgh against the usual physical and often chippy Elmira team

Ya in a 3-2 hockey game that could have gone either way with the shots at 28/29, Elmira 1 for 9 on the PP while Platty was 1 for 8 and oh...Platty gets all 3 stars of the game....you guys really got jobbed tonight.

I'm not saying they only went one way but they were all around bad ..but that one call could have been a game changer in a big game

I agree, it was a good game and any call can make or break the game. I do think however that you need to take off the rose colored glasses hahaha. There are no innocent victims down there on the ice, both teams gave as good as they got and Platty got away with just as much as Elmira did. Elmira is not any chippier than Platty, they(Platty) just used to be able to get away with it more.

HUGE game for Elmira...Plattsburgh gets RIT at home this year while Elmira has to travel to RITTER.....Elmira could really use two points to stay in the top 2 in the standings...

Most are missing the point! I don't think HaHaHa was saying the refs calls favored Elmira. The refs were terrible and affected the flow of the game. They made bad calls/non calls against both teams. The boos from the crowd were loud and often and from both team's fans [I was next to an Elmira parent who was just as disgusted as I was at the poor officiating]. They missed at least a half dozen off sides calls and were not consistent with application of the rules. Their calls were equally bad for and against both teams. Both teams played chippy, as they always do against each other. Hopefully today's officials can make consistent calls.

Both teams play chippy hockey. Actually, pretty much the whole ECAC West does.

Interesting...if you think this hockey is chippy, then you should watch CWHL games. Awesome hockey and the refs let em play. Great quality games to watch. Nothing like the NCAA reffed games.

BTW... Burlington of the CWHL now has both Ainsley Brien (Platty 09) defending her goalie Allison Cubberley (Elmira 09).

HAHA....now that's a sight...karma's a beatch!

I wasn't missing the point. The refs were crappy, but at least they were equally crappy to both sides. What I was refering to is that any crappy call can make or break a game. I just get tired of hearing how Elimra is a "dirty" team. To me that is the pot calling the kettle black. Do they get chippy, yes, but so does everyother team we have ever played including Platty and yes, even Amherst. There are no innocent angels out on the ice. They are all playing for the win and tempers flare, emotions get out of control and anyone of those girls will do whatever they can get away with. Is there a rivalry between Elmira and Platty? Yes? But we need to keep it respectful. i was a little disappointed to read what Platty's gaolie said. I think it was totally uncalled for. I have no intention of going into details, but I could probably tell you stories of the "dirtyness" of any team out there. So why be nasty.
I think it was a good game. Elmira came out a bit flat and disorganized at the beginning and that cost them. Platty came out to play the whole game.

Let's face it, generally speaking, the referees in DIII women's hockey leave a lot to be desired (that's not to say that there aren't a few good ones). But over the years I've seen more games than I wish to admit that have been decided by poor calls made by the referees. Anyone recall the 2007 NCAA semi-final game that featured Plattsburgh vs Amherst? Amherst was robbed of a win by the referees in that game. It happens. And yes, I am proudly wearing my purple and white underwear...

Let's face it, generally speaking, the referees in DIII women's hockey leave a lot to be desired (that's not to say that there aren't a few good ones). But over the years I've seen more games than I wish to admit that have been decided by poor calls made by the referees. Anyone recall the 2007 NCAA semi-final game that featured Plattsburgh vs Amherst? Amherst was robbed of a win by the referees in that game. It happens. You are so right. I have seen way too many games taken out the players hands and decided by the refs. I would really like to know what they are thinking. I realize they can't see everything, but...... they should be able to see the things in front of them.

Jamie Huntley was the DIII Womens version of Brian Avery, with just a few more offensive skills..... Although Nick Petriello could very soon be replacing Avery for the all time Princess Crown...

Just looked at some pictures of the game. Who designed Elmira's new tops? Ray Charles. I know ESPN has a guy who posts on there about horrible uniforms. Might have to send him a photo. And Elmira has always been Chippy and dirty since Woody left after the first two years. Utica used to be the worst in the conference but Clausen has cleaned that up.
