D1 Scores and Highlights

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

The second major was for checking from behind as she hit Irwin and then Cournoyer. I'm not sure which penalty was for what. Both occurred in the last 10 seconds of the game. It wasn't horribly physical prior to that point, as far as wcha games go.

Yes, I was implying there was provocation, not to insult the injury.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Dartmouth wins 10-5 over Yale. What strikes me about this score is not that the Big Green scored 10 vs Yale, but that Yale scored 5 on Dartmouth! Whoa! Granted, they rested Lindsay Holdcroft for the ECAC/possible NCAA run, but there's still a team in front of them that allowed enough scoring opportunities for 5 goals to be scored. Yalehas been shut out 11 times this season and only twice scored 3 or more goals -- once in a 9-3 loss to Providence and once in a 3-2 win over 2nd to last place Union. The fate of this team seems to be tied up in their sophomore goalie, who has proven she can get it done!

I'm right there with you. When I first saw this score, I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a misprint, not for the 10 goals that Dartmouth scored but the 5 that Yale scored because I assumed Holdcroft was in net for the Green. Then I read the box score. I agree that Dartmouth should be concerned. They had a 2-0 lead on RPI, let that slip away and lost and then gave up 5 to a very poor Yale squad including two on the PP. They should be plenty worried headed into next week.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Im sure Irwin was completely innocent! :)

North, I'm the first one to admit that Haley has had her moments but that's a kid that doesn't go down easily and rarely complains or lays on the ice when she does get laid out. I realized her past behaviour doesn't help her case but it wasn't cool. As Sappy said, it wasn't really a physical game so it was a "***" moment.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Decker scores on a power play, now 3-2 OSU with 5:00 to go.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

And THE Ohio State Buckeyes hang on to upset the Wisconsin Badgers 4-2! Congrats on a great win!

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Kelly Foley scores in OT to defeat gutsy- hats off to them, the new Brown women who kept it right in Dartmouth's face, pulling the goal even in OT and making EVERY effort to win yet at the brink finding not quite enough...falling short 2-1.

Was Jenna Hobeika, Jack, who scored game winner- sorry, sport's fans. Slight error (assist by Kelly...) AND error number two (Yikes) Dartmouth pulled their goalie, not Bears. Empty net light was lite on Stats scoreboard and Jack figured gutsy by opponents; then briefly checks box score which doesn't say, 'empty net', says "team" and shows number of minutes/seconds "team" is covering goal. So wasn't clear- yadda, yadda, yadda,

Figured wrong. Doesn't diminish shine on effort by Brown team.

THOSE who carefully follow my posts know what I think as to this fab Jenna Hobeika! Last year against Big Big Red, she held them in their own zone by dint of sheer effort. Was hobbled at the blue line but refused to let puck leave zone. And it didn't despite all Cornell all-stars convening a-top our Jenna!

Bravo!

As to you, Green- keep us in suspense will you!

Time and time again, sometimes.
Argh!

UMD leads Mankato 3-0 after one period. Jamie Kenyon has two goals and Haley Irwin has the third, her 200th career point at UMD.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD beats Mankato 7-1 with (I think) six different players scoring. Katie Wilson in street clothes tonight...not sure what's up with that. Senior Night, too, so congrats to Lana Steck, who played the third period; Haley Irwin, who got her 200th career point tonight; Kacy Ambroz; and two Bulldogs graduating a year early: Jenny Harss and Mariia Posa.

Yes, I know she is a tough kid and thats why I wasnt expecting her to be down or injured. I didnt watch the game or know she was injured. All I say on the post was that there was.a check frm behind, so.my bad.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Northeastern leads Providence 2-1 after two in its quest to win Hockey East.
Both Connecticut at BU and UNH at Maine are tied 1-1 after a period.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

That's how it ends. Huskies are Hockey East champions.

Very well deserved as NU had a strong regular season from start to finish. Even more impressive when you consider the fact that they went 0-2-1 against the #2 team BC and was still able to pull out the title. Congrats to the Huskies.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

North Dakota up vs Bemidji 2-0 after one period. J. Lamoureux will at least stay out of the box for the rest of the game. She's out...a major and a game misconduct for checking from behind.
