D1 Scores and Highlights

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD leads Ohio State 1-0 after one period. UMD leads in SOG 9-8. Coach isn't going to be happy with that effort.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD scores to make it 2-0 over Ohio State at 34 seconds of the second period. Jenna McParland gets the goal, assist to Haley Irwin.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Natalie Spooner scores while the Bulldogs stand around watching to make it 2-1 UMD over Ohio State at 2:18 of the second.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Spooner scores on a breakaway to give Ohio State a 3-2 lead at 18:19 of the second. Here we go again. One-night wonders, as the coach referred to them. Ohio State leads in shots 21-19 after two periods.

Spooner gets a hat trick to put Ohio State up 4-2 at 1:25 of the third. Put a fork in it. Ugh.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Vanessa Thibault gets a five-minute major and a game DQ at six minutes of the third. Great. Good timing. Smart play.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD scores on a goal by Audrey Cournoyer goal at 7:42 of the third period to make it 4-3 Ohio State.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Ohio State beats UMD 4-3 for a weekend split. The two teams remain tied for fourth place in the league standings. Unless the Bulldogs win the WCHA tournament, which isn't going to happen, they'll be watching the post-season from the stands. That's what they earned this season and that's where they'll be.

Edit: In my frustration, I didn't credit Ohio State for a game well played. They came to Duluth ready to do business and they got it done. They played much better tonight than they did last night, and they didn't play too badly last night. They just got behind real early. They have the tools to make a run in the playoffs. Congrats to them.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Dartmouth gets the win today from Quinnipiac, 4-1, shots: 21-42

Harvard stomps on Princeton with a 10-1 blowout. Princeton was only point in period one, Harvard with 7 in the 2nd, and 3 more in the third.

I know you stated it correctly in order -- but, I wanted to make a point of saying that Quinnipiac actually outshot Dartmouth by a 2:1 margin, yet Dartmouth goalie Lindsay Holdcroft (with a career high 43 saves) earns the win for the Big Green! The official shots (box score) were 22-44.

Interesting turn of events. Yesterday, Dartmouth outshoots the Tiger 49-19 and loses 2-1. Tonight they get outshot 22-44 and win. I guess that is why they play the games.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Sunday afternoon down at UConn, and after the first UNH leads 1-0.....the Cats played a good defensive period giving up only 2 or 3 good scoring chances, while Tina "T" LaVoie went upper right to finish off a 2 on 1 with LaSalle......stay tough Cats and the playoffs await!

They team up again to make it 2-0 UNH over UConn, with Nicole Gifford also involved.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Glad to know others are staying inside on a nice afternoon ARM......too bad the 2nd ended at 2-2 though,,,,UConn got a jump after scoring on a blue line prayer that jumped on Minton...then a nice 3 on 2 with a nice slapper that was stopped poked in on the melee....ARM, do you think the guys broadcasting are hung up on SOG? Didn't they ever see the Russians skate?

Sorry, I'm not listening, just checking the live box score from time to time. Currently UNH 3, UConn 3 in the third.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Well as we tend to do this year, the legs weaken just enough for the home team to have a big 3rd period....some goaltending issues as well as defensive miscues but the end result is UConn is 1 point behind us now with 2 weekends to go...you have to give some credence to the fact that UConn was o-7-5 for their last 12 so UNH was their chance to get a win...and they did.

Agree- caught my attention, as well, this juxtaposition.
Too, I have noticed teams with better records this season such as Crimson, Cornell, etc., have been getting away with this (fewer shots yet winning) relatively often.
Mmmm.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Cornell earns a 5-1 victory against Mercyhurst tonight, out shooting them 40-20. Overall, a very good game for Cornell.
