D1 Scores and Highlights

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

You wanna be a big girl? Then play the big girls.
My understanding is that each has a D-I women's hockey programs because of other sports within their athletic department that are D-I. They want to have some D-I sports, and they want to have a varsity women's hockey team, although at this point, they don't have the resources to commit to playing and competing at the D-I level. This separates them from RIT, that would like to have a D-I women's hockey team, but as of now is not allowed to do so by the NCAA, or Lindenwood, that want's to have a D-I women's hockey program, but is still working on getting there. Holy Cross and Sacred Heart have D-I women's hockey, just not really by choice. At least they have teams, and players get a chance to play.

I once heard that not all that long ago HC tried to get into the ECAC, but where denied.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

BU 3-2 win at PC - the Friars outshot BU 35-28 but could not score enough. Great effort on both sides.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD falls to Bemidji State 4-3 today. The Bulldogs are now 0-3-1 in the second game of home series. Sign of youth perhaps?

A sign of good times, good things for this WCHA fan. Way to go BEAVERS!

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD takes the early 1-0 lead 4:47 into the first period at Ohio State. Power play goal by Thibault, assists to Irwin and Winberg.

EDIT: First period ends that way. Shots on goal are nine each. One penalty apiece.

Ongoing ECAC related 7pm games, all early in the second:

Big Red up 1-0 over BU. PP goal by Fulton.

Yale and RMU still notted at zero.

RPI and Orange notted at one.

Tigers lost to BU 6-1, Bobcats 4-2 over UCONN.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Ohio State ties UMD 1-1 5:17 into the second period on a sweet goal by someone whose name I didn't get (there's no play-by-play on the video feed and the rink announcer's voice is hard to hear.) She came in one-on-two and skated right between the two defenders and smoked Jenny Harss.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

BU on the board. Cardella with the Goal. 2-1 Big Red.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Ohio State goes up 2-1 on a power play goal about halfway through the second. Another solo player smokes Harss. She needs to work on that.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Meanwhile ECAC scores after two:

Big Red still 2-1 over BU, shots 23 to 16, Poulin not on the sheet.
Brown still 2-0 over PC
Yale and RMU still tied at Zero
Orange 3-1 over RPI
