D1 Scores and Highlights

Dartmouth gets the W. 5-4.

It didn't really seem that Cornell really ever got any consistent play going. They all worked hard but things were really switched around (ie Saulnier playing defense due to Rougeau and Fortino out). The game was pretty physical, lots of extra curricular in front of both nets. Mazzota got knocked around a few times and there were 2 goals reviewed (Cornell's counted, Dartmouth's didn't).

Also, a first for me in a college game.....an embellishment penalty. I would have to say I disagreed with that call because Saulnier was going hard to the net, was taken out (penalty was called on Dartmouth) and Saulnier fell to the ice. There was no way she could've stayed on her feet as it was a blatant take down. No arms flailing, etc. She did slide to the goalie (who played big when she really needed to).

The game was really close evidenced by the 5-4 score with a lot of action. I think both goalies have a couple they would like back, but the bottom line is Dartmouth's D played big, stopping Saulnier on several rush attempts, and most importantly they tied up sticks so Cornwll wasn't able to get those rebound attempts. All the goals scored on Mazzota were 2nd or in some cases even 3rd or 4th attempts. And there were times when they maybe could've scored on other rebounds but missed the net. In fairness, Mazzota was interfered with on one goal, but I suspect Dartmouth would say the same.

I would agree with all of the above. I thought Cornell was solid offensively, but needs to work on their defensive zone coverage.

About 10 seconds after I turn on the feed DiMassi scores to put NU up 1-0 over Vermont. Could be a long game for the Catamounts.

Cornell rebounds with a 5-3 win over Harvard. Much better defensive effort today compared to yesterday. Barley-Maloney was moved back to defense and she played great! I'm really liking what I'm seeing from her.

Yes, I was quite surprised Barley-Maloney didn't play defense for the whole game last night. Particularly, given how accurate of a shooter Saulnier is. They missed her deep in the offensive zone yesterday.

Yes, I think that was an experiment borne out of necessity but thankfully t
Rougeau and Fortino will be back for next weekend!

Today's game vs Harvard was much better and they didn't get as much traffic in from of Slebodnick (whomplayed great andgot her 2nd win of the year!)
