D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Decided to dust of my stats sheet:

Here are the D1 recruit numbers. Data for current year 2012-13 class is still in progress.

05-06 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 211...129 USA (61%) , 79 CAN (37%) , 3 Int ( 1.5%)
.....36 from Ontario accounts for 46% of the Canadians

06-07 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 201...128 USA (64%) , 62 CAN (31%) , 9 Int ( 5%)
.....29 from Ontario accounts for 47% of the Canadians

07-08 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 164....95 USA (58%), 65 CAN (40%), 4 Int (2%)
.....29 from Ontario accounts for 44% of the Canadians

08-09 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 208...119 USA (57%), 83 CAN (40%) , 6 Int (3%)
.....38 from Ontario accounts for 43% of the Canadians

09-10 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 214....120 USA (56%), 87 CAN (40%) , 7 Int (3%)
.....52 from Ontario accounts for 59% of the Canadians

10-11 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 209... 115 USA (55%), 90 CAN (43%) , 4 Int (2%)
.....57 from Ontario accounts for 63% of the Canadians

11-12 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 220... 132 USA (60%), 75 CAN (34%) , 13 INt (6%)
.....37 from Ontario accounts for 49% of the Canadians

12-13 D1 Recruit Class Totals: 178... 101 USA (57%), 75 CAN (42%) , 2 Int (1%);

Other then the odd blip here and there, the numbers are pretty consistent.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

The article did not mention 2013/14 year as she is listed.
The article does contain the following sentence, so one would assume she's still a year away from starting college:
The Santa Margarita Catholic High junior handles it with ease.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

You know whats always nice, it is everyone has different opinions on different players. I will agree that Eden is the diamond in the rough however I believe she looked better when she played with that Pursuit team out of Kelowna than when I seen her play with the Edge this year.

Kelly Murray is one of four hockey playing sisters from Alberta. Logan Murray is at McGill, Maddie Murray is at Yale and youngest sister Eden remains at the Edge School for Athletes in Calgary Alberta.

Kelly is a strong stay-at-home defensman that has one of the best first pass abilites I have seen in a young female hockey player. At 5'9" she is a force in front of her own net and plays with a mean streak that should automatically get her on average 4-6 PIM's per game. Very steady D man with good skating abilities and puck sense. She reads the ice well. Kelly was on the Alberta U18 team that took gold this spring at the Canada Winter Games and has been moved directly to the top 46 camp bypassing the earlier top 84 spring camp as she competes for a spot on the Alberta U18 team which will compete at the National U18 Womens Championship that goes November 2-6, 2011 in Saquenay, Quebec.

Cornell will be happy with Kelly's play but the real diamond in the rough is younger sister Eden. There will be a future feeding frenzie amongst D1's for her commitment...

2nd straight year Union has had their best ever recruiting haul, and I'd say this one is a considerable step better than last years. Things may finally be starting to come around at Union.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

What about Morgann Maddill who was previously listed as committed to MU?

Had heard previously that she was a recruited walkon, but not sure if that is true.

If it is, you have to wonder if she was pushed out the door with the Niagara transfers coming on board..

When will UNH make their official announcements in regard to their recruiting class for the coming year? Is it normal for schools to take so long in doing so?

Oh who knows? To paraphrase the kid in the e-Trade commercials, "apparently fessing up to who your recruits are is FROWNED UPON in that establishment."

Plus you have the added fact that, much like the athletic department staff, any booster club members are considered representatives of the school and will be committing an NCAA violation to discuss recruits before NLIs are signed.

Yeah, well there is the rub. They are all signed. But do we get to find out who they are? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, it's a big secret, which brings great pleasure to the coaching staff knowing that I can't stand the suspense. (may their lawns be infested with weeds!!!)
