D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Looks like UNH scooped quite the prize in Heather Kashman who scored a monster goal tonight in the Edmonton Thunder's loss to the Notre Dame Hounds for the Canadian National Female Midget Championship. It looked like levels of magnitude beyond her years....made me think for a few seconds that I was watching an NHL game...absolutely shocking and simply phenomenal.

Don't know much about this young lady but always interested in who UNH recruits. Any scouting reports on her?

Couldn't find too much on her, but it seems like she's more of a defensive d. Found a comment from her coach in an article from her soph year:

Bogan, a sophomore at Northwest, does not play for her school's team. But like Skarupa, her friend and teammate since the two played for the Montgomery Mites of the MYHA as seven-year olds, the future is limitless.

"She's going against the North American Hockey Academy [in Vermont] where every kid is going Division I and she's handling them like she was a senior," said Sidhu. "She'll be a legitimate, big-time defenseman. Her and Hayley, those two are kind of cornerstones on our team going forward."

Kash is the real deal. Colgate's Kueber is cut from the same cloth.

Wait till you get a load of some of the 94 and 95's coming out of the West...;)

Brynja was the 5th leading scorer on the Pride this year and the top scoring D with 7 goals, 30 assists, and 87 PIM in 69 games. She's a solid defenseman.

Alison Wickenheiser (Wayne State) in 66 games had 42 goals, 27 assists and 66 PIM. Alison was the 3rd leading scorer on the Pride in what many considered an off year for her.

I agree that the 94-96 age group will turn some heads
Of the Div 1 committed girls at the Esso cup..yes Kash and Kueber were good....they always are.
Jenny More from ND was always dangerous had a good tourny as did Kostenko..There was also Matucci from ND... Shes the only one I have never seen before..I thought she was a force and never left the ice! Where has she been hiding?? WOW good for Clarkson.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Wow. Do I count ~30 players in '11. How do they manage that? lots of red-shirts for '11 which means more RS for '12 until grads catch up???

Is it a given there are / will be red-shirts utilized? Rather than having players dressed or not dressed on an alternating basis? When Idalski speaks of the increased depth he'll have over the 2010-2011 roster it gives the impression he plans on having those players available to play if / when needed. maybe most of them? I sure don't expect Mo and Jo to have their ice time reduced...but I think some back for their junior / senior season probably will. We'll see. Perhaps he will red-shirt a few with an eye on the future.

Thirty? Wow, kinda funny given they took a ton of stalls out of the locker room a few years ago.

Rebuilding? They only lost 2-3 seniors. I thought they had a very solid team. Strange! They must not give any full scholorships (Maybe 2):)

It usually means that there are likely to be players who are not asked back or assured of a roster spot.
